A guru pushjya is highly auspicious to perform any new thing and any sadhana irrespective of the mahurat prescribed for it can be started from the time of a guru pushya. It is supposed to be a thousand times more powerful. What is so special of this time is that Jupiter is paasing through it's maximum exaltation point in cancer which happens once in 12 years so apart from other things till 15 september (but even till next year june) it is highy auspicious time to appease Jupiter. And guru pushya yog is also a gaj kesari yog this time. As mentioned by my guru bhai in recent posts there are 2 mantras given for this hugely benevolent planet. Not very worried about things like copyright ?? guruji forgives forging IP addresses! I give here the exact rituals for both. Anyone who performs this sadhana during this time will be get multi fold results. Ref: may 2000 issue Everything yellow your clothes, your asan and the cloth spread under the yantra, Offering yellow flowers, haldi, besan ki mithai, yellow cloth, yellow topaz as well as giving them away as charity during this time will be highly beneficial. Face north east draw the 3 by 3 matrix (10, 5 12; 11,9. 7; 6,13,8) row wise with white chandamn or haldi on a wooden plank or a copper plate. Place the brihsapati yantra on it. (if no yantra just fold hands) And chant the vedic mantra of Jupiter with folded hands Aum brihaspate atyadaryo arhaad dyumad vibhati kratumjaneshu Yadi yacchas rit prajaastdsmaasu dravinam dyahi dhitram Light a lamp, incense And chant Aum devmantree vishalakhah lokahite ratah Anek shishya sampoornah peedaam dadte me guruh Raise both hands And chant aum aangirasaaya vidmahae divya dehaay dheemahi tanno jeevah prachodayaat inviting jupter the lord to the prayer. Offer yellow flowers chanting Hreem devaanaam cha guru kaanchan sannibham Budhi bhootam trilokesham tam namaami brihaspatim Aum brim brihaspataye namah Then offer yellow dyed rice (mixed with haldi powder) Chanting Aum suraachaaryaay namah Aum vaachaspataye namah Aum dharma roopay namah Aum dev poojitaaya namah Aum sarvagyaay namah Aum satya bhashnaaya namah! Aum gurunaam guruve namah Aum chitta shudhi karaaye namah Aum sur kaarya krityodyamaaya namah Aum sarva vedaanta vide namah Aum brahma vidya vishaardaaya namah Aum brihaspataye namah And the chant with an aangiras mala (OR yellow hakek or sfatik or haldi) 7 mala for 12 days but more isurely allowed aum hreem kleem hoom brihaspataye namah and then chant the following stotra brihaspatiir brihaspati ir jeevah suraachaaryo vindaavarah vaageesho dhishno deerghamshru peetambaro yuvah sudha drishti grahadheesho grah peedadhaarakah dayaakarah soumya moortim surcharyah kumkum dyutih lok poojyo lok brihaspatir neetigyo neti kaarakah taaraapati cha aangiraso ved vaidya pitaamaha bhaktyabrihaspati smritva naammmanye taani yah pathet arogi balvaan shreemaan putravaan sa bahve bhavennarah jeeved varsha shatam mrityah paapam nashyati nashyati yah poojyed brihaspatim dine peet gandhaakshaambare pushpa deep uphaareshcha poojyitwa brihaspatim brahmaan bhojyitva ch peeda shantir bhaved guroh offering 108 ahutis of pure ghee on the last day of your sadhna is recommended ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ as for the other mantra aum graam greem groum sah guruve namah chant it 11000 time ( *4 recommended by some pundits) after chanting the vedic mantra and drawing the matrix. Direction north the same yantra mala will do (price in INR is 300) why Jupiter? Because he is devguru, giver of yog vidyas, eloquence, dharma- following the path of righteous ness. Some even claim it to be the giver of all mahavidyas just as venus is the giver of mrityunjaya. But the advantage with planet mantras is that they give very very fast results and are for everyone, and you will notice the difference within a few days. But in particular Jupiter is the lower manisfestation of mahavidya tara. The meaning of 'Tara' is a deity leading you to salvation and binging you in light from darkness. There are three forms of tara. tara ekjata and neel saraswati. I got sadhanas of two of them- not posted here so far with me (in my small libray) and will post them when I can. And yes, exaltation of Jupiter means it is a good time to win Ma tara over this year.
