Well, maantrokta and taantrokta mantras are not different. The

difference is in pronounciation only.

Let's take a small exmaple. The mahalaxmi beej mantra is maantrokta

when pronounced 'shreem' and taantrokta when pronounced 'shreeng'. I

have also heard that mantras become more effective when pronounced

the taantrokta way. But, I suggest consulting Gurudham on this matter.

Hi There,

Have you heard of adding vowel sounds usually ''ee'' to a mantra to

make it more pulsative to entrain the mind in silent meditation?

Example: Shreeng becomes Sheereeng

Shreem becomes Sheereem

I think it comes from Sri Vidya!

Looking foward to your reply

On the siddhashram site the Mahalakshmi Mantra is not written although

there is a audio. Please provide me with the exact wording if you can.

Thanks

Hi

from my limited knowledgde and understanding

bija mantras are used not to enhance silent meditaiton, but to be

able to spit out energy or desired result when pronounced, its not

the stuff for silent meditaion, its the other way round in some

sense, you will try to use this sound to milk the consiousness which

is the cow(this is my understanding). so its creating and manifesting

vibrations ,as per me only AUM can only be kind of soft for silent

meditations, but others i dont think when sounded softly would

produce results, i have heard bade gurudev doing lama sadhanas in

shivir (which i beleive has to do lot with bija mantras) there is no

way that it can be smooth. others may have their own opinions

but to me shreem and shreeng are the same and actually they are not

at all diffrent,

for example look at this follwoing taken from a site...

Deity .......................................Mantra ..................

....Comments on results

(Function)

(Name)

Ganesha (D) ...........Gam(Gang) .................Protection, success

Kali (D)... Krim (Kring) ................Protection, liberation,

victory

Krishna (D).Klim (Kling) .................Love, attraction, bliss

Lakshmi (D)....Shrim (Shring) ............Prosperity, wealth, beauty

Rama (D) .....Rama, Rama, Rama ....Courage, justice, marriage, love

Saraswati (D) ..Aim (Aing) ....................Arts, sensibility,

music, knowledge

Shakti (D)..Hrim (Hring) ...............Good qualities, energy,

family

Shiva (D) ......Hum, Om Namah Shivaya .....Protection, liberation,

awareness

om (ong)

basically shreem and shring are not 2 different pronounciations but

the same thing the bracket are probably spelling the pronunciation of

that beeja

if you carefully pronounce shreem , if you observe it has the shring

sound.

i dont think there are actually 2 differnt pronounciations, others

may have different views

anyways as told mantras should correct by itself if done seriously ,

besides it should be taken from a Guru, rather than we experimenting it

this is true atleast for BIJA MANTRAS, as they are powerful and its

better if one gets this from Guru ,and just dont do it all by urself

without initiation

the follwoing excerpt by sivananda tells

"

The Bija-Mantras and the Sri-Vidya should not be repeated by those

who are not well acquainted with them. Only those who have a very

good knowledge of the Sanskrit language and who have been directly

initiated by a Guru (who has Mantra-Siddhi) can take up the Japa of

Bija-Mantras and the Sri-Vidya. Others should not approach these

Mantras and should do only their own Ishta-Mantras which are easy to

pronounce and remember."
