I am now adays reading a book on lefthand tantrism

it is called "aghora at the left hand of god' and tells about the

experiences of the aghori vimalanda,it is interesting and amazing (already

birendra has posted abut ths i think)

book tells his experiences with smashaan sadhanas, his vision of maa smashaan

tara, his masters(whom he calls mentors),and yes alsoabout the real art of

sex(concepts of vajroli and some mudras, eventhough not in detail),and what

scared me was their way of doing sadhanas,in most of the sadhanas you have to

go to cemetery(smashan)get a dead body and sit above the dead bdy and do the

sadhana

aghora as i understand is third of the five faces of lord shiva and it means

which is deeper than the deep, fearless and all and is meant for guys and girls

who have lot of guts

i think the book is worth reading ,for those of you who are interested to know

about vaamachar and to understand that truth is not just about feeling good, but

much deeper than life itself

very true, i came to know abt this series through mukund and there

are 3 in this series all are really good and very informative, in

general i found lot of value from this books, but i feel that some

portions of the book will mislead you if dont take the right

perspective.

i personally feel that people who are practicising sex in a tantric

way are often mislead by fake gurus, as result of this their passion

increases and are doomed forever. one has to be mindful abt when one

is dealing with kundalini at lower levels, its really wild.one has to

attempt this practices only under an able Guru, which i believe can

only be got in india.

this books seeks to destroy the wrong notions of the panhamakara

practice and tells the idealogy behind this things in a beautiful

way, as lord siva in a way represent "tamasic" of the gunas so these

aghora practices are very unconventional, even ramakrishna paramahansa

practiced tantra under the guidance of a female bhairavi(i guess).

if any of you listened to "satchitanand stavan" cassette by bade

gurudev in one shloka its told that saraswati, bhrama vishnu etc

praise satchidanand ji, i never used to understand how can such

higher dieties can praise him, but a story from one of the book in

aghora series clarifies that, story goes this way

"once narada the devarishi asks lord bhrama as to how many "yonis"

are there in this world so that one can take birth, bhrama tells that

his

job is to create and he dosent know the number, probably vishnu

might know ,when they go to him , vishnu tells that his job is to

preserve the

nature so he never knows how many of them are there, vishu tells that

probably shiva migh know, then they go to

shiva, he tells that his job is to destroy them so he to dosent know

much abt the exact no, it is told that few rishis only know the

correct no of yonis and have experienced it, its some where around 8

million something....

i was surprised to learn that rishis(sapta rishis) are very ahead of

lot of dieties and have lot of control in running the universe, it

came to me as a surprise, then i understand that bhrama vishnu and

other dieties praising dada gurudev (satchidanand ji) makes lot of

sense.

anyways this books talks about lot of good things like karma, and

mantras, kundalini and lot of things, they are very good.

if you are based in US or Europe you can get the triology

1) aghora1 : The left hand of God

2)aghora2 : kundalini

3)aghora3: the law of karma

from amazon website, there are also some used book which come little

cheaper also at amazon.

i would suggest that you browse the book before you buy and see if it

interests you.

  • 1 year later...

jay,

hello, have you finished the book? What are your reactions to it. I

read this book in 2001, hence my screen name, in Varanasi while

making a pilgrimage to the burning ghats. The aghouri are still alive

and well, and, for the most part holding on to their secrets.
