today is maha ashtami. the day attributed to mahagouri. I do not have

any ishta devata perhaps because i have a fickle nature.

But gouri or gavarja or parvati is a form very close to my heart.

Hers is the form that several years ago i had fought with and told

her quite clearly i will pray to shiva bit would never pray to you.

and hers is the form that returned to my life not too long ago, and

whatever becomes of me i will never stop praying to. I have one thing

to say to everyone facing any problems in their personal lives or

relationships - lost love, spouses gone astray, problems with

children or conceiving or whatever - pray to her and chant her

mantra. her mantra may not work as fast or as surely as say a

gandharva mantra, but it will work much more flawlessly and the

rewards will be several times greater and blissful. but that does not

mean i am overlooking at her position as mother supreme and the form

above all forms.

 

beyond that no affirmations or visualizations for me. all these

though very effective have the limitation that they are restricted by

our conscious and our understandings of ourselves and others. filling

your heart with good thoughts works better, and asking mother for

help at critical times works a lot lot better. she is the source of

all beauty all charisma and magnetism and you will not be left empty

handed when you need these things.

 

dimple kapadia once said my sex appeal lies in the fact that i do not

know where it lies. i think that is the most intelligent as well as

the most innocent way of being alluring.
