We all know about the darker side of raavana, but his positive sides are very

little known.Raavana was a great devotee of bhagavan Shiv and after many

penances Shiva granted him the boon that he will be immortal, he will never die

then raavana defeated gods and all the nine planets including Saturn were

brought under his control,so that the law of cause and effect ,the karmic law

could not control him,he took the nine planets including the great Saturn and

made them lie on the ground tied up with their face down

he had also complete controlover his kundalini, but the asura nature was still

hidden inside him.Mother nature was loosing her balance and so it happened that

narada was sent to raavana.narada praised him sky high and told why dont he

enjoy a little bit more by torturing those planets who are lying on the ground

in front of him by making them face towards him, instead of putting their face

down

this narada told because then only saturn the greatest of the planets can cast

his eye over raavana and then only raavana will be defeated,(such is the power

of saturn that it can take people to spiritual heights by making them suffer

just by a glance)

raavana knew all this but some how his mind got changed and he agreed to narada

then saturn had his glance over raavana and raavana's mind started changing. One

day his wife asked him 'you have got the boon from Shiva that you will never

die,but then how willyou ever able to free yourself from bondages, since death

only can free anybody totaly from all bondages'Raavaa agreed to this due to the

Great Saturn effect and he again asked boon from Shiva that he wants to die

Shiva told then that

"ParaSthree Haranam Raavana Maranam"

That is how raavaana came to steal Maa Sita and was eventualy killed by

ShreeRam.raavana got such an auspicious death at the hand of the great Ram only

due to the fact that he was a worshipper of Bhagavan Shiv.

Well that is the way the great rishis play their divine plays
