The 30-day lunar month is divided into a dark half (Krishna Paksha) and a bright half (Shukla Paksha). Each half is sub divided into 15 parts which are called lunar days or "Tithis," A Tithi is the span of time the Moon will cover in 1/30th of a lunar month (full Moon to next full Moon). A lunar year is about 11 days shorter than a solar year. The names of Tithis, starting from the 1st day of EITHER the WAXING or WANING Moon are:- 1. Pratipaba, 2. Dvitiya, 3. Tritiya, 4. Chaturthi, 5. Panchami, 6. Shasti, 7. Saptami, 8. Ashtami, 9. Navami, 10. Dashami, 11. Ekadashi, 12. Dvadashi, 13. Trayodashi, 14. Chaturdashi, 15. Purnima (full Moon). iam guessing if they say krishna paksha dvitiya then you have to start after the amavasya and if they say shukla paksha dvitiya then on the poornima side and two days before poornima is called "trayodashi" either "shukla paksha trayodashi" progressing into poornima forward, or "krishna(dark)paksha trayodashi" progressing into amavasya forward but double check becos in your case as they said JUST dvitiya, you can probably start either of the day.(2nd day or the 17 day which ever is convenient to you) jAI GURUDEV

Guest guest
anurag "The Lunar Calendar Each month consists of 29 to 30 days, and is based on the phases of the Moon. Each month is divided into two fortnights (paksha). Shukla Paksha (Sudi) ends with a Poornima (full moon), and Krishna Paksha (Vaadi) ends with an Amavasya (New Moon). " as per the above what i told abt triodahsi is true, but for dvitiya it is reverse so shuklpaksha dvitiya is two days after amavasya and krishnapaksha dvitiya is 2 days after poornima and just dvitiya means 2 and 17 th day of the lunar month, i hope i got it,if others find it wrong let us know just double check if the vartaali sadhana says any "dvitiya" or specific shuklapaksha or dvitiyapaksha anurag i think it is clear for you. Guest guest
birendra many thanks for the help i will do the needful Anurag >brother, if it says just dvitiya then you can start you sadhana >either on the 2 nd day after amavasya (new moon) or on the 2 nd after >poornima(full moon)(2/17) and NOT 2nd day BEFORE amavasya or >poornima , becos then it becomes tryodashi(13/26) day of the lunar >month. > >look in your local calendars (prepared by the priests, usually they >will be in local language) for amavsaya or poornima and start your >sadhana the 2 nd day after those dates > >or go to the temple ask the temple priest > >i dont know of online sites > >Jai Gurudev > > >Jay Gurudev > "THIS E-MAIL MESSAGE ALONG WITH ANY ATTACHMENTS IS INTENDED ONLY FOR THE ADDRESSEE and may contain confidential and privileged information.
