Guest guest Posted December 7, 2002 Report Share Posted December 7, 2002 JAI GURUDEV BEFORE GURUJI PASSED AWAY I ASKED HIM A QUESTION. I ASKED HIM WHAT IS THE BEST MANTRA OUT OF ALL MANTRAS. HE GAZED INTO MY EYES AND SAID THE BEST MANTRA IS OM NAMAH SHIVAY. FROM THEN HE GAVE ME A RUDRAKS MALA AND PUT IT ROUND MY NECK AND TOLD ME TO WEAR IT AFTER I HAD ACCOMPLISHED A SADHANA. THE FUNNY THING IS I HAD ASKED HIM THE SAME QUESTIONS! I ASKED HIM WHETHER WE COULD CHANT OTHER MANTRAS WITH THIS MALA AND WHETHER WE COULD WEAR IT. HE SAID WE CAN USE THIS MALA FOR SOME SPECIFIC MANTRAS. HE DIDNT MENTION WHICH ONES BUT SAID THAT WE COULD CHANT GURU MANTRA, CHEITANYA MANTRA AND GAYATRI MANTRA WITH THIS MALA AND THEN WEAR IT. WE CAN ALSO USE THIS MALA FOR MANY SHIV SADHANAS AND PRAYOGS ALTHOUGH HE MENTIONED THAT AS FOR LADIES IT IS MORE DIFFICULT DUE TO MENSTRUAL TIME OF THE MONTH. AT THE TIME IF A PERSON IS WEARING A MALA, THEN THEY SHOULD NOT TOUCH A FEMALE WHO IS ON THEIR MENSTRUAL TIME AS THEY ARE KNOWN TO BE UNCLEAN. IM SORRY IF I HAVE OFFENDED ANY FEMALE IN THIS GROUP, BUT THESE ARE RULES AND AS YOU ALL KNOW THAT ANY MALA IS SACRED AND SHOULD BE KEPT CLEAN. THIS IS BECAUSE THE MALA HAS BEEN USED FOR CHANTING SO THEREFORE, THE POWER OF MANTRA IS ON THE MALA AS WELL INSIDE OUR BODIES. I asked shastriji can we wear safatik mala with which we chant guru mantra, cheitnya mantra and gayatri mantra. He said as such one shoudln't waer safatik malaa but if you have go for a very very imp. work or if ur life is in danger then u may wear it but take care of its shuddhi.
