Lord Hanuman is called Bajrang Bali due to his immense strength. The

word "Bali" in Sanskrit means "stregthfull". Usually great heroes are

called Mahabali. The word "Bajrang" might be from Hindi, meaning

orange or saffron color.

It is customary in Northern India to address holy men as Baba,

meaning father, teacher (Guru) etc. Devotees aptly call Lord Hanuman

as Baba Hanuman.

Hanuman's acts of bravery, strength and devotion are recorded in the

religious texts such as the Ramayan, Mahabharat and the Agni Puran.

In the Ramayan, he is called Mahaabeer (Mahaveer), great hero.

Described as a Mahaa Yogi, Hanuman has the ability to expand his body

to become as large as a mountain (garimA siddhi) or to contract

himself as small as a fly (aNimA siddhi). He is adept in the science

of Yoga and has attained spiritual perfection or siddhis and super

spiritual powers. Because of those powers, he could have transformed

himself into different forms and sizes and fly (AkAshagama) in the

air.

The Ramayan says of Hanuman:

"The chief of the monkeys is a perfect being. No one can

equal him in learning of Shastras (texts dealing with

spiritual/material sciences) and in comprehending the meaning & sense

of scriptures. In all sciences and in the rules of austerity, Hanuman

rivals the preceptor of the gods. He is the ninth author of grammar

(navavyAkaraNa pandita)."

The following sloka glorifies the Lord:

"buddhirbalaM yasho dhairyaM nirbhayatvaM arogatA |

ajADyaM vAkpaTutvaM cha hanUmatsmaraNAdbhavet.h ||"

Meaning:

Intelligence, strength, fame, valor, fearlessness, lack of ill-

health; absence of sloth, skill in speech, and many more --

all accrue upon remembering Hanuman.

He is considered to be the god of power and strength and as such is

the most favored deity of wrestlers and especially venerated by

princes and warriors. Kindly refer to the mantra in message no.49.

regards
