Before attempting to answer the question as to Why anybody suffers, I would like to quote from the Maha Swamy's speech. Quote : " A child eats earth. Its hands are tied by the mother. The child gets angry and cries. Is it without reason the mother ties it's hands? We do not know the mercy of Universal Mother. The good or harm coming to us has its source in Her Grace; Suffering - Her Grace for some reason. We must accept whatever comes to us, good or bad, as Her Grace. We do not know why she gives it. Our vision is limited. We do not know what precedes it or follows it. If we are able to look into the past present and future, we will know that God does no harm to us." Now, talking about Maha Kavi Bharathiar, who is one of the greatest Devi devotee and a Jivan Muktha, lived true to this statement of Maha Swamy and he didn't care a damn, to worry about his financial woes, considering this as Her Grace and it seems this noted Orator from Dharma puram is more concerned about Bharathiar's poverty than Bharathi himself would have been. For Bharathiar Other than God, there was no kith or kin for him . He was a Yogi or Jnani whose intellect was very subtle and as sharp as a sword. He become like a withered tree, an immovable object with a steady mind. He had understood all that was happening around him. His knowledge was perfect. He was not affected by passion or sorrow. Like any ordinary mortal he did not seek to satisfy his wants like hunger, thirst, and a place to rest.He did his duties apart from an an individual has towards himself, to the social group and the nation. Ordinarily, the performance of these duties remains on the level of satisfying the creaturely wants. But He performed these duties which had elevated everyone concerned patriotically and spiritually and till date we Treausure his songs. just like the English men who pride themselves that there can be no second Shakespeare , Tamilians pride, there can be no second Bharathiar (as far his compositions were concerned at literary level.) But Bharthiar was beyond any worldly knowledge and this particular instance which comes to mind would prove this point. To quote from the lecture of HH Swamy Haridas Giri about Bharathiar : " Coming home Bharathiar orders his wife to prepare meals for him and the devoted wife finding nothing brings the borrowed grains from her neighbour , finding Bharathiar sitting outside his house gazing the birds, requests his help for removing the stones in the rice. Bharathiar engrossed in the nature seeing the Para Brahman everywhere including the crows and sparrows composes one of his Famous song " Kaakai Kuruveniley Nandalla " and in this state of mind throws away all the rice given to him for cleaning to the crows and sparrows around him keeping only the major portion of the stones -- His wife arrives at the scene, much to her shock pulls the left over from Bharathi's hand. My question is Will any ordinary mortal, under the circumstances, if He was concerned with his poverty do this Act. Therefore it is important to learn anything from great saints and Acharyas than Petty Politicians or orators however noted they may be.To- day the dirty politicians of Tamil Nadu have reduced the great work in Tamil " The Thirukkural " to a mere outstanding literary piece where as the Maha Swamy gives the status equivalent to Vedas. He further elevates the Tamil Language as equivalent to Sanskrit because of the availability of Thirukkural. About Maha Swamy -- He alone is an Acharya, who, after clearly understanding the conclusive teachings of the Sastras, makes the people of the world gain their welfare by making them stick to the path shown in the Sastras and also himself does everything according to Sastras and remains in that experience Jaya Jaya Shankara Hara Hara Shankara.
