Guest guest
Dear friends, I have read in the uttarabhAga of Sri Lalita SahasranAma stotram that if a person reads the stotra thrice a day for one month, Goddess Saraswati/Bharati dances at the tip of one's tongue - that is his speech will become very profound. And if one reads it once a day for 6 months, Goddess Laxmi will stay with him ever. My question is: Do the beneficial effects of reading Lalita SahasranAma stotram occur to everybody who reads it, or only to those who have taken Sri Devi diksha/initiation? Yours truly, Subhas. Guest guest
|| Jai Sadguru Dutta || The first and foremost requirement in spirituality is "shradDhA" - faith. Without faith, all sadhanas, rituals will be futile. Lord Shrii KrShna has said thus in the Geeta: "shradDhAvAn laBhathE Phalam" - only the faithful will be benefited. "sanshayAthmA vinashyathi" -- the doubtfull will perish. Hence don't do anything without faith. Strictly speaking, one who is not initiated into Shriividya should not chant the LalithA sahasranAma. Infact, it is (LS) indirectly referred to as the "rahasyanAma sAhasri" (the most secret sahasranAma). Lord Hayagreeva, who taught LS to sage Agastya warns: "na shaTAya na dhushtAya na vishwAsAya karhichith | shrii maathr Bhakthi yukthAya shriividhyA rAja vEdhinE ||" --- L.S. poorva piiTika (preamble) [this sacred sahasranAma shall not be taught to a person who is adamant, evil, and an infidel. Also, a person who lacks pure devotion towards the Universal Mother and who is not initiated into the Shriividya shall not be taught the same...] Still, an uninitiated person can chant the sacred L.S., only after he/she has learnt it from a Shriividya upasak. This serves two purposes: the devotee will be initiated into the practice of L.S., and it will help him pronounce the shlokas correctly. Offering "guru thamboolam" is essential to be sure of success in any ritual. Not to mention, the devotee should regard all women as his own mother; or else it will earn him the wrath of the Divine Mother. One last suggestion: Shlokas and mantras are not read; they are chanted. || namasthE jagadhEka mAthah || , "Subhas Reddy" <subhasreddy> wrote: > Dear friends, > > I have read in the uttarabhAga of Sri Lalita SahasranAma stotram that > if a person reads the stotra thrice a day for one month, Goddess > Saraswati/Bharati dances at the tip of one's tongue - that is his > speech will become very profound. In the first place the Lalita Sahasranama can be chanted only if one is initiated into Bala Tripura Sundari mantra. That is the minimum requirement/qualification to chant Lalita Sahasranama. Now, some saints and swamis will say you can read Lalita sahasranama without upadesha and they will give some illogical reasons. But know this for sure that they are wrong. Second: What you mentioned i.e reciting so and so and such and such benefit is a prayoga and that prayoga can be done only when one has done Purascharana of Panchadshakshari or Lalita MahaTripura Sundari mantra. I am not quite sure if one can do the above prayoga without Panchadashakshari. Shri Srinath Atreya(our list member) will be able to explain more on this. Please contact him. Rgds Satish.
