Guest guest
OM NAMO BHAGAWATE SRI RAMANAYA Dear Ramana-List member, Here is mail on Arunachala Ramana sent to a friend some time ago. It may be of interest to you. Suryanarayan Dear ..... Surely it is a great experience to be at Tiruvannamalai and particularly, in Sri Ramanasramam. It takes about five to six hours by road from Bangalore. You can stay in the Ashram. You get free boarding and lodging. Donations are accepted but not linked to your stay! You can send them an email and you will get a prompt reply. You will get simple and confortable accomodation and very sattvic and delicious food.[Gandhiji once asked Smt. Sarojini Naidu " Are the Idlis here (in Sabarmati Ashram) as delicious as those of Sri Ramansramam?"] The Ashram may limit the duration of your stay during the peak festival periods to 2 or 3 days. Alternate accomodations are avaialable nearby. I can give you some inputs on how you should plan your trip there. It will be good to read about the place and the life of Sri Ramana before you land there. That will help you relate your stay there to the experience that you are walking on the land where Sri Ramana once walked in the body, the places he frequented and showered His Grace on all. Sri Arthur Osborne, the founder of the Moutain Path magazine and a great Ramana devotee has categorically observed that the spiritual power of the place continues there undimished. So is the "Presence of Ramana". My own personal experince is that the whole place is charged with spirituality. The Tomb of Ramana, the "Ramaneswara Mahalingam" radiates a silent peace so powerful that the mind which is naturally noisy, quietens so perceptibly. Namaste.
