Guest guest
I have read what Ramana Maharshi has said re: self inquiry, but I would like to know is if you ask: Who am I? should we really wonder? or just listen after asking the question. Seems if I really wonder, I am digging and the pot is stirring rather than a flippant.... "who am I" which doesn't stir anything.... how do you inquire? Guest guest
The enquiry searches for the source of the ego. The purpose is to focus the mind on its own source and rest there. The I-thought is the root from whence all other thoughts arise. As long as any answer to the question is found, enquiry into the one (I) who finds answers is necessary. If one focusses in this way the mind (ego) vanishes and the Self remains self-evident. "In the interior of the heart-cave Brahman alone shines in the form of the Atman, self-evident, as I - I. " (Ramana Gita; 2. 2) Miles ------------- > I have read what Ramana Maharshi has said re: self inquiry, but I > would like to know is if you ask: > > Who am I? should we really wonder? or just listen after asking the > question.
