Guest guest
Viorica: Is it not a violation of the copyright law to post even part of a book without permission? I am not up on the law but I see no difference to puting the whole thing on Word or part at a time here. Clarification is desired. Since this board is restricted to its members as far as I am concerned its ok. Also, they that sell the dhama have lost it. Spiritual teachings should be free to all who want it. I have not decided whether to delete the files you send. Will contemplate on it more. Guest guest
om namo bhagacte SrI ramaNAya Dear sri Vicki, You have not done anything wrong or shameful. In your zeal for sharing the joy and a s a part of yout sadhana you had typed in what you read and enjoyed. You have not brought shame on this list. You have brought joy, and bhakti. Copyright laws are there to protect the author of works of art, so that the one who has put in effort to generate a original work does not loose the benefits of authorship and ownership. The latter can be transferred and has a commercial value. You have not deliberately infringed the law and you have done all that is needed to correct. We, the readers of your postings are also guilty to the same extent, if not more. David Godman is another devotee of Bhagavan and will surely understand. We are all in the same boat. Please remove from your mind, thoughts of guilt, and carry on with you sadhana as before, with the same joy and shanti. namo ramaNA. Yours in Sri Bhagavan, suri Viorica Weissman <viorica wrote: Dear RamanaMaharshi Members , I am definitely decided not to ever bring shame on this list. I've been thinking without knowing too many details about laws and copyrights. There are indeed a lot of Internet sites very powerful , very beautiful, very spiritual and very helpful to other people by their contents. But if the owners abused rules or laws to display what they did, they are not helpful any more. Why ? very simple . What is there to learn from thieves ? There is a lot of information largely available on the net. If all the chapters from David Godman's book are on the net on web sites, and those web-designers used them illegally and without asking permission, if I copy from them is this not like enjoying somebody else's robbery and delluding myself that I am not robbing ? Somebody else has already done the work for me and my conscious is covered and clean ? This I would call human mind at work and delluding itself that it is correct and pure when it is not. Unless Mr. David Godman or Arkana press or whoever has the rights , will not give permission to let me use those chapters for free displaying to a group of people, I shall not do that. Over my dead body I shall bring any kind of anything that might seem unclean to the list of devotees . I shall not do any shame to this wonderful and perfect Master. I feel at peace,I did the right thing . vicki ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^ > Thanks, Gloria, that's a great site. > > By the way, I tried to look at the > one you recommended the other day -- > http://www.leelaa.net/ -- but there's > a note saying that all the "free stuff" > that used to be there has been removed > for legal reasons. > > Rob, > Was the story there at all for you?
