Dear All,

I am from Tamilnadu currently working in Saudi Arabia. I will be visiting

Chennai next week for a brief stay.

I would like to know the address of the Ramana organizations in Chennai

and particularly where I can get the full set of TAMIL books/ literature

(including the talks with hagavan Ramana Maharishi ) and also by others.

Is there any place in Chennai where the meditation and techniques taught

by

the Maharishi are instructed to devotees ? Or whom should i approach in

this regard. ?

KINDLY REPLY TO warankk

Many Thanks for your help and best Regards

Dear Sri Kamesh,

The Ramana Mandiram in Chennai is in Alamelumangapuram quite close to the Shirdi

Saibaba temple. You will get all the information regarding Tamil books on

Bhagavan Sri Ramana, there. You may also get many of the books published by Sri

Ramanasramam.

There are also quite a number of associations of Ramana devotees in various

parts of the city of Chennai.

I live in Mumbai but have visited the Ramana Mandiram in Chennai a few times. I

am sure Sri Gomu who lives in Chennai will respond to your mail in much greater

detail. It takes only about three to three and half hours by road to reach

Tiruvannamalai (& Sri Ramanasramam) from Chennai. May Bhagavan Sri Ramana bless

you with a visit to the Heart of the world (Refer the verse quoted below).

To quote nandi vAkku from aruNAcala mahAtmiyam,

"aduvEtala maruNAcalan~ talamyAvilu madiga

[it is 'The place', aruNAcalam, the noblest one of all]

madubhUmiyi nidayammar*i yaduvESiva nidayap

[ It is the heart of the world and the Heart of Siva.]

padiyAmoru marumattalam padiyAmava nadilE

[in that magical/secret place, the Lord (Siva)]

vadivAnoLi malaiyAn~ida maruNAcala menavE"

[is manifest as the radiant(light)hill aruNAcala.]

In the transliteration above I have used the convention proposed for sanskrit

in the website

http://www.advaita-vedanta.org/avhp/transliteration.html

with a few additional notations for the Tamil (or more correctly tamizh) letters

not available in sanskrit.

Just a few keys for these letters

/n~/ represents for the softer version of /n/ unique to tamizh.

The question 'Who am I' in tamizh is 'n~An yAr'.

/r*/ represents for the stressed version of /r/ unique to tamizh.

Some times it sounds as /tr/. Victory in tamizh is 'ver*r*i' but pronounced as

'vetri'. Sometimes it sounds as /rr/ as in 'ver*i' and pronounced as 'verri'.

/L/ represents for the thicker version of /l/ as in oLi(light in tamizh)&

aruL(Grace in tamizh).

/N/ stands for the /N/ gaNeSa.

Please also note that capital letters A, E, I, O & U represent the longer

(dIrgam) version of the vowels a, e, i, o & u.

/T/ & /D/ stand for the retroflex consonants. /T/ -> as /t/ in 'cut' &

/D/ -> as /d/ in bud.

/t/ & /d/ represent the dental consonants. /t/ -> as /th/ in thin &

/d/ as d in gOvindA & veda.

The meaning given within the brackets is my attempt to give a word by word

translation and included for the benefit of those who do not know Tamil. I will

try to get a more authentic translation from a Sri Ramanasramam publication and

post it later.
