The Parsi aristocratic Feroza Taleyarkan was wellknown at Ramanasramam. She did

a lot for the restauration of

Patala Lingam in the Arunachaleswar-temple, where Sri Ramana lived for some time

shortly after His arrival at Tiruvannamalai,

and later helped in raising funds for the construction of Sri Ramana's Samadhi.

Her book "Sages, Saints and Arunachala Ramana"

is not so famous but really worthy to read. Unfortunately it is out of print.

This is one of her reminiscences. It happened some months before Sri Ramana's

death:

"The night before the fourth operation [of Sri Ramana], while the ashram people

were at dinner, I went into the New Hall

where Satyananda and Rangaswami were massaging Bhagavan's back. With tears in my

eyes, I said to Him,

'Oh, Bhagavan, do grant me but one request - I have never asked Bhagavan

anything for myself. Do transfer this disease

to me and live for the sake of mankind. Taleyarkhans are but of little use to

mankind. But without you, I cannot live, I

would be helpless.'

Bhagavan said, 'Why do you attach so much of importance to this body?'

I replied, 'Bhagavan has taught me to love it.'

Then Bhagavan told me: 'Where am I going? I am always with you.'

At this I knelt down crying and placed my head on His knees. Bhagavan touched my

head thrice saying these words

each time He did. Then He gave me the Kashmere shawl He has about Him - yet

another precious relic of Bhagavan

treasured by me. "

Longman, 1970)

"I am always with you." This is also reality for all Ramana devotees until

today. He is not dead - but He lives in our hearts

and guides us as He did when in the body.

In Sri Ramana
