Hearing of the greatness of Sri Bhagvan,Amrithananda from Jaffna came

and stayed at

Skandasram. He was always engaged in doing something. He would remove

all fallen leaves,

all rubbish from the paths. He would wash with cowdung, places that

needed such washing.He

would make the place spotlessly clean.Sometimes he would go into the

town and spend a couple

of days there.During his absence, when Sri Bhagvan noticed

leaves,twigs and rubbish on the

paths,He sould say, "Oh! Is the Jaffna gentleman away? One day he had

mixed a lot of cowdung

in water and when the paths were washed with it,some cowdung clung to

the feet of the people

who walked on it.Perumalswami was very annoyed with Amrithananda and

shouted, "The Jaffna

man spoils the entire place with cowdung.Don't feed him hereafter." A

little later

Amrithananda disappeared.Everyone looked for him.At last he was found

on top of a cocunut

tree.Perumalswamy asked him to climb down, but without

replying,Amrithananda broke the tender

coconuts and drank the milk in them.Perumalswamy called him.We also

called him.He did not

care for any one of us.At lunch time,Sri Bhagvan noticed the absence

of Amrithananda and

asked us what had happened to him.We told Him he was on top of a

coconut tree and also gave

Him the reasons for this.Sri Bhagvan went out and asked Amrithananda

to come down and he

obeyed like a child.

in Sri Bhagvan,

sriram
