Once Sri Bhagvan pointed to Pillai and said,"His family was devoted

to Bhagavanthaswami of

Cuddalore.They have always served sadhus.When I (Bhagvan) was staying

under a tree in

Sri Arunachaleswara temple,some sadhus were looking after the

garden.They used to go for

bhiksha.On certain days,Usambadi Rukmaniammal used to bring

provisions to the garden and

prepare a feast for the sadhus.Once I was asked to attend the feast.I

was observing silence

at that time.She said I should either go for bhiksha or come and join

the feast.If I did not

go for bhiksha,she told a sadhu,I should be forcibly taken to the

feast.I pretended to go for

bhiksha.But the sadhu followed me.To escape from the feast,I clapped

my hand before a house

where some people were playing cards.One of them went in and brought

some food on a leaf.I

came to know later that he was Gambhiram Sesha Iyer.His family also

was devoted to

Bhagvanthaswami of Cuddalore.That is why,among the people who were

playing cards at the time

of bhiksha,it occurred to him alone to give me bhiksha."
