Merry Meet Mark,

 

Now, I have not been a devotee of Sri Ramana Maharshi for that long yet, but

I will give you an answer and you can read over it and see what you think of

that teaching from him after reading it. I wondered the same, ,how every

single action could be predestined by karma or the force you may call it.

And when I ask these questions, I always get an answer about two seconds

later from some sort of force, who knows what you believe it could be, ,but

anyway, here is what I got:

 

Note that the post said every action of your body is predestined, in which

means your soul is free to feel and thinkk what it will, while the body go

along it's daily life in this physical world. You may believe it is caused

by karma, ,but I believe more that this is destined by your own soul or the

Lord himself and is decided by what will help you grow the quickest and best

and what will challence you the most in this life. Karma may play a partial

role in it, but I believe mostly of the first thing I mentioned. We have a

choice whether we will be attached and identify with our body and mind and

what they do or if we will simply observe in peace and happiness. Any time

you start to get worried by something or get concerned by something, just

step back and ask who is worried and concerned about this? Then come back to

your awareness and watch your body and mind and be simple, the thoughts of

worry, concern, when they come up, keep asking who they are happening to, who

is feeling them, ,and let them pass, be detached from the feeling. I've been

practicing this lately and it's quite simple for me to do this. I only get

sidetracted every so often but I do pretty well at just watching and I've

learned a lot from this.
