Guest guest
"Amongst the best known and most appealing of Ramana's photographs are those taken by the father and son team, third and fourth generation of photographers, Gajanan Govind Welling, and Sharat Gajanan Welling. They were photographers of repute in Belgaum and Bangalore. The Welling photographs were taken sometime in 1948, about 12 in all, each more fascinating than the other. It is reported that when they were about to take the photographs, Bhagavan enquired if the light was sufficient. To this the father replied, 'You are the light'. Of course he is that to the whole world! Fortunately these photographs were taken before Ramana fell seriously ill. Mellow wisdom and overflowing joy is written all over Ramana's face and his gentle smile has been captivating countless hearts. While all the photos have a special appeal, two are exceptional. One is the Padmasan pose, used for worship and the other is the Bust-straight view. As the wellings have become a household name among the disciples and devotees of Ramana in whose houses one would invariably find one or the other of their photographs." (Radiance of the Self) You can find some of the famous Welling photos here: No. 4, 6, 7, 9, 10, 21-23, 27. Unfortunately I could not find the whole-body-photos with Bhagavan reclining on the sofa.
