Guest guest
Who am I? Paragraph 5 The mind is a unique power (sakti) in the Atman, whereby thoughts occur to one. On scrutiny as to what remains after eliminating all thoughts, it will be found that there is no such things as mind apart from thought. So then, thoughts themselves constitute the mind. COMMENTS FROM A SEEKER: This seems clear: The mind is just a bundle of thoughts. What is the mind but thoughts? How can you verify this for yourself? One important element in spiritual practice is that the seeker must find the Truth for themselves. The way that this is done is by the traditional approach: Listen (or read), Reflect, Meditate deeply (and make the experience and Knowledge you own). Now, can you think about thoughts? How many thoughts have you had in you life? Yogis say that each breath brings a new thought. Is any thought who you are? Can you see the space between two thoughts? Who are you then? For whom are the thoughts? Maybe we need to accept the teaching of Ramana on this, and then find out how it is true. It may be that when we look back on this later, we will say, `Oh, that is obvious. Ha Ha Ha.' I invite others to add their comments of their own understanding, experiences, or questions. I want to invite all into a deeper practice of inquiry. The translation that I am using is the one from Osborn's "Collected works of Ramana Maharshi." We are Not two, Richard
