Ramana The Absolute Consciousness:

"True surrender is love of God for the

sake of love and nothing else, not even

for the sake of liberation"

"Self-realisation.

Thus realisation of the Self is

realisation of God. It is not an

experience of God, rather it is an

understanding that one is God.

Knowing the Self, God is known.

In fact God is none other than the Self.

To see God is to be God."

-----------

I've the feeling that the INTENTION

of some seekers is to "beat death" and

that is why they do self-inquiry:

to learn to attach their awareness to

an abstract entity which they believe

will live for ever?

What does this mean in the non-dualist teachings.- for me it means ego-death

and surrendering to dying, as LIFE

itself will go on...

Ramana:

"Mukti (Liberation) means finding the

origin of these births and deaths and

destroying the very roots of the

ego-sense. That is Mukti. It means

dying with full awareness.

If one dies thus one is born again

immediately at the same place with full

knowledge of the Self, known as

"Aham Aham" (I-I). One who is born thus

has no more doubts. "

NOTE: The right intention is all imprtant

to do spiritual practice.

Dear Karta.

you have headed this subject with "Why do you do self-enquiry?"

Perhaps the disciple chooses not so much doing self-enquiry but

vichara chooses him. Then what can he "do" but this? He has indeed no

other choice and it does itself. There may be at first intentions and

great efforts, but then they will also become lost.
