Guest guest
On 17th June 1948, she fell ill, and the next morning it became evident that her end was near. At ten o' clock Sri Ramana went to her, greeted her as 'Amma' (Mother), and said: 'You wish that I should be near you.' He sat down near Laksmi, placed her head on his lap, gazed into her eyes and kept his left hand on her head. He put his other hand over her heart, which was centred on the sage completely. Laksmi was conscious till the end and her eyes radiated serenity. At eleven-thirty she left her body without the least struggle in perfect peace. She was given a ceremonial burial; a square stone structure was put up over her grave, and a statue of her in stone was set up. On a plaque was engraved an epitaph in Tamil verse composed by the sage, mentioning the date, and stating that Laksmi had attained liberation (mukti).
