Guest guest
Hi, I was just at Thai restaurant near home and thinking about vegetarianism. One reason I found Sant Mat too constricting is because they began to hairsplit over things like molecules found in baked goods that had a meat source. Then the rennet in cheeses, sometimes that is hard to get around even though it is an animal source, but I thought no moreso than milk itself. Maybe I am wrong on that. I want to know what Ramana, has summarized, as far as diet and its hindrance to Self-Inquiry. I suspect that it is along the lines of the raja, tamasic and sattvic food ideals. But I really want to know what the bottom line is about meat or lack of it from Ramana and anyone who cares to share about this. Thank you Netemara
Guest guest
Net: I believe you are correct. Bhagavan's recommendations about diet relate to their relative sattvic qualities and his desires not to kill animlas. He was very fond of animals and saw them as equal inhabitants of this world. She asked questions regarding diet regulation. D: What diet is prescribed for a sadhak (one who is engaged in spiritual practices)? Maharshi: Satvic food in limited quantities. D: What is satvic food? Maharshi: Bread, fruits, vegetables, milk, etc. D: Some people take fish in North India. May it be done? No answer was made by the Maharshi... .... Maharshi: The quality of food influences the mind. The mind feeds on the food consumed. =========
