Guest guest
What is turiya? Turiya is mind in quiescence and aware of the Self, with awareness that the mind has merged in its source. Whether the senses are active or inactive is immaterial. In nirvikalpa samadhi the senses are inactive. To know, implies subject and object. To be aware means to be thought-free. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ More Doubts and 100 More Answers, 65 ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Guest guest
Respected Friends, Turya means "Fourth". So it is the state of consciousness beyond Waking, Dreaming and Deep Sleep. In fact, this state is basis of all the above three states. As rightly said, Nir Vikalpa samadhi can lead us to this state. Shiv Sutra gives the details of the Bliss in Turya state. Beyond Turya is Turya Teeta. It is the fifth state. It is also called Shiva Consciousness. Here, higher sages experience pure consciousness. -- Virendra Qazi.
