Pure Being (Summa Irutthal)

What our Master clearly teaches

By way of great, good, powerful tapas

Is only this and nothing more

Be Still.

Apart from this the mind has no

Task to do or thought to think.

The stillness shining as pure Being

Is our true nature, the Self-state.

Only through rare, strenuous tapas

This "laziness" is attained. Praise those

Abiding thus as paragons of virtue.

from Sri Muruganar: The Garland of Guru's Sayings, v. 773, 774

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
[The Tamil word summa means peaceful, natural Being, stillness.]
