Guest guest
Deal Group, cee is one who spent years with Nome and now offers satsang. Here is a link to a page on her site about meditation. http://www.presentnonexistence.com/transcripts/hints.htm I thought this might be of interest to the group. There is a Nome in California who charges hundreds of dollars for 'satsangs' and other things, enlightenment for a hefty price, one might say. Would it be that Nome? Guest guest
Dear M, This is the only Nome that I know of, He offers satsang in California. He asks for a donation of $15. Those who are unable to offer this are let in free. He does not "sell" enlightnment. He offers satsang and retreats. The retreats are typically 3 days, include food and cost, I think $295. Whatever you say, but I called them and received some info in the mail a couple a years ago, and their prices were extremely high, on all items and services. If you like, some examples of their prices can be found and forwarded to you, away from list clutter. They have money in the bank, of that you can be sure. Here is the website for Nome's ashram http://www.satramana.org/ As you will see, there is a hefty yearly fee for membership, and things like tapes and books are around 30.00 each and up. Go to the site and call or e-mail for a SAT (Society for Abidance in Truth) package to be sent to your home, and you will see for yourselves the costs and commercialization of the organization. Truth is truth, a true Guru gives freely, abundantly, with no gain but what comes unbidded by God's grace alone. Guest guest
Dear M, At SAT membership is NOT required. Membership is available. Serious seekers at SAT often support SAT though membership, though this is in no way a requirement. I find the teaching to be of the highest level always, and I am extremely grateful that this quality of teaching is available, and I feel the Grace of being able to partake of this teaching. The impersonal Truth is what is taught at SAT, along with wonderful instuction in self-inquiry and Ramana Maharshi's teachings. The sages who teach there are not enriching themselves. There is a nice temple that needs to be maintained, and, I believe, a mortgage to be paid, etc. I like it that there is a temple that feel full of peace. Sometimes when I am working in the vicinity I will stop by and meditate in the temple. As to whether a retreat costs too much, that is for one to juege for themselves. I have been to retreats and find them to be most worthwile, and I think the price is just fine. What is the price of inner peace?
