Guest guest
--- From "Sky of the Heart", page 134. Nityananda is featured at http://www.nityanandainstitute.org/nit.htm "Nityananda was always totally immersed in the Divine, in Omkar, in the power and the sound of OM. Achutamama, a devotee from Sojuth Kanara years, recalls the following incident. Near the coastal village of Kaup there was a lighthouse; it was under the charge of an English caretaker who admired Nityananda and made him welcome whenever he wished to come. One night, Nityananda took Achutamama to the top of the lighthouse. Pointing out a large ship lying at anchor in the distance, Nityananda asked his companion to estimate the depth of the sea at the ship. To the answer, "It must be quite deep for a ship like that", the youthful Nityananda replied, "Oh, no! It is only ankle deep. Come, I will show you". "It was dark night. As soon as they got into the sea, Nityananda took his devotee's arm with his right hand and stretched his left hand out in front of them. They walked in ankle-deep water all the way to the side of the ship. The bewildered Achutamama did not understand and could not answer when Nityananda told him, "See, it is only ankle-deep as you were told". They turned around and walked back as they had come, Nityananda again holding his companion with one hand while he held the other arm stretched out. Halfway to shore, Nityananda lowered his outstretched hand; both men immediately sank into the deep sea. Achutamama was terrified, but in seconds Nityananda reached him and pulled him up. Again they started walking through ankle-deep water, with Nityananda's left hand outstretched as before. Upon retunring to the room where they were to spend the night, the exhaust4ed Achutamama immediately was sitting up looking at him. Seeing that his companion was awake, Nityananda began to speak. He said that what had happened was a manifestation of the Omkar Shakti and that everything in the universe was a manifestation of this Omkar. As soon as he had heard these two sentences, Achutamama fell back into his deep sleep." --- End forwarded message ---
