77. Instead of eating the fruit which is in your hand, why do you

desire to eat the unreal fruit which is seen in the mirror, the mere

reflection of the fruit in your hand? Is the reflected fruit an

object which can be eaten and relished? Similarly, instead of

diving deep within the heart by keenly attending to Self and

thereby enjoying the bliss of the Self which is ever shining there,

why do you desire to enjoy the pleasures experienced through

the five senses of this perishable body, which are merely an

unreal reflection of the true happiness within you?

SIT: Because we have tasted the bodily pleasures and have not

the "True Happeness". So, now we have to trust, taste and test. So

far with SIT there are no results.

Dear Alton,

How do you know that there are no results? Do not measure inquiry

by "results" that are to seen by the mind, or are some kind of body-

experience. Are you feeling any greater sense of inner peace? Is

your certainity about the Truth increasing?

I hear from my teachers that for many inquiry is gradual and

progressive.

While is is good to preiodically review your practice, how you see

yourself, and how you see inlightenment, measuring yourself for

progress may not contribute to your spiritual progress.

Let the inquiry take its course. Keep going with your deisre for

liberation.

We are Not two,

Richard
