Guest guest
A special incident relating to a golden haired mongoose is also reported when Ramana was staying at Skandasramam. I appeared on a festival day when a crowd of people were climbing the hill. It was an extraordinary mongoose, golden haired and without the usual black spot on its tail. It joined the party of pilgrims, went up first to the Virupaksha Cave, where Palaniswami was taking his bath in the spring. He stroked the animal, greeting it in the most friendly way. From there, the mongoose climbed up to Skandasraman. Narrating this incident. Ramana said: "Everyone was struck by its attractive appearance and fearless movements. It came to me, climbed onto my lap and rested there for a sometime. Then it raised itself up, looked about and moved down. It went around the whole place and I followed it lest it should be harmed by careless visitors or by the peacocks. Two of these did look at it inquisitively, but it moved calmly from place to place until finally it disappeared among the rocks to the south-east of the asraman."
