Guest guest
On learning that Swami's name was Venkataraman, the Muni turned it into the short and sweet name 'RAMANA'. He was not only his Sadguru but the universal guru. Hence the Muni thought that he should also be called 'Maharshi'. since he was endowed with all godly qualities, the Muni felt he should be regarded as 'Bhagavan'. Therefore he proclaimed that henceforth his disciples and the whole world should regard and address the 'Brahmana Swami' as Bhagavan Sri Ramana Maharshi. From then onwards the name Bhagavan Sri Ramana Maharshi has become revered and famous throughout the world. In an inspired mood the Muni immediately wrote to his intimate disciples and well wishers: " I have obtained as my guru a Supreme sage know as Brahman Swami, who lives in a cave in Arunachala, He is a great visionary; an epitome of all good qualities; one who deserves the name of Bhagavan Maharshi. I have abridged his name to 'Ramana' in a brief and beautiful manner. Accordingly through my letters I have informed my disciples and well-wishers that they should also call him 'Ramana'.
