Guest guest
Dear qntmpkt.. Shall we conclude that there is only one pure soul named Sri Bhagavan Ramana? I have come to that conclusion after investigating many Gurus. Guest guest
---To Alton: Thanks, my conclusion is the same. I reposted the message on Krishnamurti from another group. However, I posted it here to make a point regarding the relationship between moral behavior and Enlightenment. : from Ramana's example -- totally impeccable qualities of character, absolutely humble; etc; from him alone, people might form the conclusion that Enlightenment is to be automatically equated with upright moral behavior. As a result of decades of experience collecting information on various Gurus; my conclusion is that there's not necessarily a direct connection between Enlightenment and moral behavior; and in fact, that an Enlightened person can perform "evil" acts ; i.e. acts so egregiously offensive to common standards of proper behavior that there's no question as to the malefic nature of the acts. I'm talking about actual felonies. I don't want to argue regarding which Gurus are the offenders, but you can take my word for it. Such cases exist. There seems to be a great prooccupation in this forum (even more so in Harshasatsangh) to simply quote Ramana and the story is realize your essential nature: end of story. An extreme version of this would be Ramesh Balsekar and certain "Advaitins" going around saying "I don't know and I don't care". Let's face it: people do suffer. The body, though "illusory" is greatly pained by "illusory" cancer, "illusory" scorpions, killer bees,, or whatever. Sunday I was watching a National Geographic on giant hornets in Japan. They featured the story of a gardiner minding his own business, basically; but he turned on a motorized weed killer which set of a loud noise and vibrations a hundred yards away , at the site of a next of giant Japanese hornets. They didn't like getting upset, so viciously attacked the gardener who died within about 15 minutes. But even afterwards, the poison from the stings ate away his face, and he had no face left after a day. There are certain obvious facts about life that many people seem to ignore: Ramakrishna: cancer: Ramana, cancer; Jean Klein, stroke, lived like a vegetable for at least a year before dying; Ram Dass, stroke....on and on; but the message seems to be (per Ramesh Balsekar): no problem!. Killer bees,, cancer, no problem!. Home invader coming into your house, killing your entire family? No problem! Just ignore the situation and get enlightened!. Car highjacker? No problem! It's just fate...just continue driving and doing your Self-Inquiry. Body getting old, getting Alzheimer's? No problem, just do the Self-Inquiry. Just repeat the mantra of Ramesh Balsekar "I don't know and I don't care" (....seems to "work" in every situation!!). ...Matrix Monitor In RamanaMaharshi, "Alton Slater" <leenalton@h...> wrote: > Dear qntmpkt.. > Shall we conclude that there is only one pure soul named Sri Bhagavan > Ramana? Guest guest
Dear Gary , in fairness to Ramesh [who regards himself as a devotee of Ramana } his expression is 'Who Cares ? ' this is not meant to be the colloquial expression ,' who the hell cares ' , but 'see who cares ?'- , a form of Self Enquiry .regards Alan P.S.Ramana Maharshi and Ramakrishna in my oppinion are the most exemplary Sages - their vasanas had totally burned out and were harmless .Other Enlightened Beings can have an awakening but the vasanas may be still active and it takes a process of widening and deepening until they are totally extinguished .Ramana is reported to have said this in one of the Letters of Naghahma but I have temporally mislaid my copy , and have no doubt spelled her name wrong too. --- matrixmonitor <matrixmonitor wrote: <HR> <html><body> <tt> ---To Alton: Thanks, my conclusion is the same. Guest guest
Dear Alan and Gary: Basically it is how one defines what enlightenment is and only Ramana fills that bill of complete non-self interest IMO. Lakshmana may have no more "I" thoughts, but he seems to be quite selfish in not giving his darshan freely like Ramana did. Some of the 5 other Gurus that imitated me, seemed to be over interested in passing on the fortunes they controlled to relatives or just had some real punk behavior. Just because someone gains spiritual powers due to exclusive focus does not mean they are pure. Aloha, Nessuno ---
Guest guest
"Imitated" you?!! Remember that Bhagavan's mother dominated the ashram until she died in his arms, and his brother (?) was sarvAdhikArI, and so on. So what? karma and genealogy are not much different. Guest guest
A tap to www.theHungerSite.com will give somebody a cup of rice. ShalauM! Didn't Bhagavan (I think in the Talks) suggest about Hitler, "He might be a jnani"? Maybe we all are, even the Neros. Self-realization and ethics are different things. The only ethical teaching by Ramana is in the RamanaGita, that we are all brothers (or sisters, or siblings) together. _______________ Add photos to your messages with MSN 8.
