When the ego (I-notion) is destroyed,

the limitless, full, existence that is

Self, shines by Itself as I,I...

('I' is self-shining).

(Upadesa Saram, V. 20 )

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
part of commentary by Swami Dayananda:
When ahankara, the I-notion falls i.e., resolves,
"I" reveals itself.
"I" is the basis of ahankara, the place where ahankara
resolves. Pot resolves into clay, wave into water,
a coloured crystal into transparent colourless crystal.
Crystal-knowledge is not spoilt by any colour seen in
the crystal. This is the resolving. Hrt, the Self, is where
everything resolves. All notions, "I am happy", "I am sad"
etc., resolve into hrt, the core of myself, the real I.
