Guest guest
Dear Jacqueline Your sincerity is appreciated greatly. May the life always unfold before you like the beautiful flower that it is. The description of your dear son Samuel is touching. Whereas I don't know Samuel and if you didn't understand his experiences from his own descriptions, I certainly don't know what to say except that he seems to be a very advanced and elevated soul, perhaps a budding vijnani (a jiva who is ever free). Continue to love him as you do and all will be well. As the exuberance of youth slowly gives way to a more mature attitude perhaps he will be able to express himself more clearly to you. You mentioned that you didn't understand part of my comments about what I referred to as the experience of ANANADA,or MAHA SHAKTI, of the universal SELF. I could write for days about this and not be assured of being understood; but from my experiences and studies I have never contemplated or believed that anything greater was possible than the actual experience of our true identity which is the SELF of the entire universe. One day, out of the blue and without any warning or expectation I had a powerful and moving experience. I lost consciousness of the exterior world and suddenly a fountain of bliss moved up my spine into my heart and there I experienced that my life, indeed all life is the SELF of the entire universe. I can't really put into words what this is like. But since that time I have recognized that the greatest spiritual beacons of all times have espoused this experience as the supreme spiritual experience. Please take a moment to read these few quotes: The following is from the Vivekacudamani of Sankara: 339. To realize the whole universe as the Self is the means of getting rid of bondage. There is nothing higher than identifying the universe with the Self. One realizes this state by excluding the objective world through steadfastness in the eternal Atman. 355. The Sannyasin, calm, self-controlled, perfectly retiring from the sense-world, forbearing, and devoting himself to the practice of Samadhi, always reflects on his own self being the Self of ;the whole universe. Destroying completely by this means the imaginations which are due to the gloom of ignorance, he lives blissfully as Brahman, free from action and the oscillations of the mind. >From Eight Stanzas to Arunachala 7.He who pursues this closely, Questioning. ....... "What is the origin of the I ` ? And diving inwards reaches the seat of the mind within The Heart becomes there the Sovereign Lord of the Universe....... Shankara and Ramana both agree that the experience of your true SELF is the experience of the potency, the power and the existence of the entire universe in the heart is the SELF. Jesus stated: That the "power of the universe is within". His words are wrongly translated as the "kingdom of heaven is within you. The greek scriptures use the words "BASILIEA OURANOS" BASILIEA means "royal power" and is feminine in gender, like SHAKTI. OURANOS means the universe. And this was Jesus' message, that the power of the entire universe lies within. In the Lord's prayer he states, Our Father, who is in the universe (heaven(s)) hallowed be thy name (I AM). SRI RAMANA GITA Chapter Five, THE SCIENCE OF THE HEART: 11: The whole universe is in the body and the whole body is in the Heart. Hence all the universe is contained in the Heart. 12: The universe is nothing but the mind, and the mind is nothing but the Heart. Thus the entire story of the universe culminates in the Heart. There are many souls who espouse this fact. There was even a very interesting book written by a Westerner name Richard Maurice Bucke entitled "Cosmic Consciousness" that is an extremely interesting treatise on this phenomenon. Also, the rather frightening book by Gopi Krishna entitled the "Awakening of Kundalini" is also scary; but extremely interesting. Sri Ramakrishna from the Calcutta area also expressed this fact many many times. The Ashtavakra Samhita, and the Avadhuta Gita are also very interesting treatises on this. Even the Bhagavad Gita espouses this experience. I must close for now. yours in Bhagavan michael
Guest guest
Dear Michael, thanks for this interpretation. It gives an interesting view though the translation "the kingdom of heaven is within you" is not wrong. Another translation is: "the kingdom of heaven is among you". There are many interpretations of this Jesus-quote and there is a discussion in theology if it is meant internal or external - LOL. Possibly it means that it is internal and external (without seperation. Though the "power of the universe is within" is a very free translation the theologians would surely alltogether not agree to it points in the right direction. In Sri Ramana Gabriele > > Jesus stated: > > That the "power of the universe is within". His words are wrongly > translated as the "kingdom of heaven is within you. Guest guest
Yes, I'm certain the theologians would disagree. But at least it gives them something to do. Guest guest
Dear Michael Thank you so much for taking the time to give more explanations about the Self. So much to meditate on. It is very comforting to see that many great masters agree on the experience of the universe in the Heart. I will keep these verses to meditate while I will be at the feet of Arunachala. I will post a few questions on Self-Inquiry in the Atma-Vichara forum.
