Guest guest
Dear Alan, Gabriele et al, My teachers tell me not to share inner experiences as Ramana did not share his. You probably already know the reasons for the aforesaid, but it you don't, I could bore you with 10 to 100 reasons, depending on how flippant I wish to be at the time. LOL I notice that meditating on the inner sound of our beingness quells the thinking mind much better than mantra. I have considerably less thoughts per minute than any practice I have done so far. I never got off the mental modification doing Ramana's processes so I cant compare Vichara to it. Except of course when I am in deep sleep, which does not seem to be any lengthy period of time now. Presently I rarely sleep more than two hours at a clip. About your suggestion to ask who sees unbound and bound and then ask "who is that hears etc. If this process worked for me I would still be hectically typing in more and more Ramana posts, but I did not see results with tremendous effort. G.E. said it right when they said, "progress is our most important product". That is why I was drawn back to the Master's that offer progress in traversing the 5 spiritual planes. It might be cool to jump right to the Godhead doing Vichara, but my conclusion is that Vichara is for those who not only have practiced for many lifetimes, but it is only for those with mega powerful minds, like Ramana and Gannpuri, or professor types like Suri and Miles. About concluding that we are awareness, who cares. I am into ecstatic bliss, love, peace and giving up reactions to attachments that are ripped asunder. It's not the attachments that cause all the unpleasant suffering, it's those pesky reactions. Love in whatever medium pleases you, and thanks for being so loving and accepting. I feel ya. Vichara is not for everyONE. What is important is to be in touch with our own personal guidance as revealed to us by our own intuition and deepest feelings. The SADGURU is you. Guest guest
Dear Michael: Once a person comes in contact with Ramana and his teachings it makes and indelible mark on consciousness. Someday when my mind gets powerful enough through training, I may attempt Vichara once more. Guest guest
om namo bhagavate sri ramanaya Dear Alton, If this process worked for me I would still be hectically typing in more and more Ramana posts, but I did not see results with tremendous effort. G.E. said it right when they said, "progress is our most important product". Looking for progress is failure. Seeing it is arrogance. It locks one into a linear view of Self and Universe. In atmavicara self-surrender is essential. If you continue to search for results/monitor progress there will never be an end. In self-surrender one accepts the workings of prarabdha without associating with the fruits (good or bad). Then the maturing 'practice' of atmavicara will Self-fulfill as Reality in an instant. Ever Yours in Sri Bhagavan, Miles

You probably already know the reasons for the <aforesaid, but it you don't, I could bore you with 10 to 100 <reasons, depending on how flippant I wish to be at the time. LOL That's ok of course. Experiences are always impermanent until we subside in the one permanent experience. Nevertheless it is also interesting to hear and share, if wanted. > > I notice that meditating on the inner sound of our beingness quells <the thinking mind much better than mantra. Who is G.E.? If one surrenders all is ok - there is no question of advancement at all but a natural permanent longing to deepen - up to the last, as God/Self is felt like a magnet. There are no means to judge as there is no fixed ground at all to reach and the sinking in God/Self is an endless one. You know that my own vichara-practice also was not successful, possibly because this fact was not seen and because of the permanent desire to "reach" something, which is called "Self-realisation". This word sounds so great, especially in the Western ears. It's fatal somehow. Now it is ok with simple surrender. > About concluding that we are awareness, who cares. I am into <ecstatic bliss, love, peace and giving up reactions to attachments <that are ripped asunder. It's not the attachments that cause all the <unpleasant suffering, it's those pesky reactions. All is ok what works for us. So we may trust in the path which is shown and which opens. Please share here whenever you feel like. It is always nice to hear from you, so thank you, Alton.
