Guest guest
On your views of the celestial music posts. On one level I have to agree with what has been presented, however since I am suffering through 5 hours of bringing my mind to back to ground zero, I have to tell my mind that It will make progress. Guest guest
Dear Alton and All, very interesting discussion about progress. Only sorry I have to dash now. Very good hints to take with me. Thanks for all contributions. It is the point where stumbling can happen - indeed! Only a short thought for you, Alton: if surrender happens, there is no question of progress. It frees from that thought, and that is wonderful. So surrender must be the basis of all spiritual paths. Without that one goes only round oneself in an endless circle. Surrender is nothing only for such with a bhakti-nature, it is simply a necessity looking at the human condition. With surrender one may practice whatever one likes and adopt a kind of training also. Progress may be seen in going on with one's training - there is nothing wrong with that at all. But if the "progress" is seen in the eyes of surrender, surrender annihilates it again. Then there is no thought of progress left again - LOL. Much love to you all on the board. This one here withdraws for some days for a Zen-retreat. Guest guest
Ditto on the happy retreat for Saint Gabriele: During my junk type meditation, my mind, not me, thought of a couple of examples that one does progress toward realization. Nisargadatta; All you can do is give up your attachments and the rest will be done for you. Well lets say I had hundreds of attachents and I gave up lots of them. We may then conclude that I am making progess toward merging with the Absolute. My wife will confirm my progress for anyone interested. Next example: Ramana: Forgetting the Self is the cause of suffering and the problems of the world. This is not an exact quote but right on according to his teachings. So, last year I forgot my Self most of the day and now I am only forgetting my Self part of the day. Aint that progress? LOL.
