Guest guest
1. Preliminaries This is meditation with the eyes open. The number one rule of Freeway Zen is: Don't run into the car or object in front of you. This meditation is one of awareness, Not unconsciousness. 2. Where do I look? Eyes open. Not fixed on any car or object, Not fixed on the road. Eyes open. Relaxed, Aware. I watch, open and relaxed. I see the road ahead. I am aware of the flow of traffic. I see the rear view mirror. Not focused on anything I see all. ------------------- copyright 2003 Richard Clarke We are not two, Richard
Guest guest
Dear Richard: I already told you what a fantastic job you did on this "Freeway Book". Now I have a question. What happens if your number one rule is inadvertently broken, lets say in a pile up on the freeway? What do we do then. If there is no more "I" left then who can ask the question? LOL. Aloha, Alton 1.PreliminariesThis is meditationwith the eyes open. The number one rule of Freeway Zen is:Don't run into the car or object in front of you. This meditation is one of awareness,Not unconsciousness. 2.Where do I look?Eyes open. Not fixed on any car or object,Not fixed on the road.Eyes open.Relaxed,Aware.I watch, open and relaxed.I see the road ahead.I am aware of the flow of traffic.I see the rear view mirror. Not focused on anythingI see all.-------------------copyright 2003 Richard ClarkeWe are not two,Richard Post message: RamanaMaharshi Subscribe: RamanaMaharshi- Un: RamanaMaharshi- List owner: RamanaMaharshi-owner Shortcut URL to this page: /community/RamanaMaharshi Your use of is subject to the
Guest guest
Dear Alton, I said that you were a troublemaker. Still the case I guess. A couple of comments: First, this book is taken from my own practice and practice experiences, and I have not (so far) broken this first rule, so anything that I say is theory, not practice. There have, in fact, been freeway pileups in front of me during this meditation, and always I have been attentive enough to respond and stop before hitting anything. Now as to communicating with no "I"? I am blessed to take satsang from such a one. (I am confused when I start to describe Nome as such. He is clear on "No personal self." Is he such a one? Maybe he is such a One?) He talks and listens to and responds to questions. I have heard him ask questions, too. And it is most clear that he does not stand as a personal self. Even Ramana said, when asked about pain after his surgery without anesthetic said, "The body had pain. Am I the body?" From this I see Ramana standing as Knowledge of the Self and not identifying with a so-called personal body or identity. At the deepest level, that is what we are called to. Maybe the time of all the (imagined) cars crashing together is a good time to know the Reality, to know Who You Are? I think from the standpoint of the Advaita teachings, Brahman, who we are, is never doing anything. Brahman, we are taught by the wise, has no attributes and does nothing. Does Brahman drive this (illusory) car? Did Brahman create the "(illusory) snake that was seen in the rope? Maybe this is paradoxical. Our task as seekers, though, is to see the truth of Reality for ourselves. The paradox is only for the mind. ARe we the mind? First we hear this teaching. Then we use our best, our highest intellect, and come to see how this is true. Then (with the intellect relaxed and open, due to the understanding that reality is really reality), we are able to meditate and dive into the Truth, and knowing the Truth, we become the Truth. Troublemaker that you are, yet you still ask deep questions about reality, or rather Reality. Guest guest
Dear Alton, Do not reform so much that you lose your light of Truth.
