Ritual worship, repetition of sacred names,

and meditations are done with the body, the

speech, and the mind, and they progress in

excellence in that order.

~~~~~~~~~~
D.M. Sastri
Ritualistic worship, chanting and meditation
are done with the body, voice and the mind:
they excel each other in the ascending order
~~~~~~~~~~~

A.R. Natarajan

~~~~~~~~~~~
This is certain:
Worship, praise and meditation,
Being work of body, speech and mind,
Are steps for orderly ascent.
Dear Group,
Please note that as the practice gets more "interior" that this says
it is more "excellent" (to use working similar to the first
translation. Finally when the inquiry is beyond even the mind it is
the most excellent. (that is not in this verse, though).
To me, this is like Sankara's instruction to discriminate from "gross
to subtle." (which is to inquire through the 5 sheaths)
Am I the body?
Am I the life-energy?
Am I the mind?
Am I the intellect?
Am I the bliss-filled causal state (found with the empty mind or in
deep sleep)?
We are not two,
Richard
Om Namo Bhagavate Sri Arunachalaramanaya
4. This is certain. Puja, japa and dhyana are
actions of the body, speech and mind
(respectively); rather than (each preceding)
one, (the succeeding) one is superior.
