Guest guest
a PS: Dear Richard or anyone who wants to answer, this is indeed a source of permanent confusion for me: This glimpses of Self always "arise" by themselves if I don't do anything - and surely not! when I am practicing vichara. In practicing vichara these seem to be "drove" away. I don't know what to make of it or if I am doing something wrong or what. May be again an Ego's trick, I really don't know. Ego is very tricky, most of all if it comes to practice vichara. This is seen. So I don't believe in that anymore, but how confusing! So I would be glad for every comment from experienced practice of members and I am happy that I can ask here in this group and share - not only the pleasant things, but also the "problems". This is helpful to do, so thanks. Guest guest
Dear Gabriele, The thing about the glimpses is that as soon as one starts to reflect or react to them, this reflection/reaction is at the mental level, so naturally the experience goes away. Remember the image of the Self as the Sun and the mind as clouds. When the clouds rise, it is like the Sun no longer shines (evedn though it is there all the time). So what one has to do, to use the language my teacher uses, is to abide in them, not react to them. Just "stand" in the light. I certainly have had times where I had the glimpse, and siad to myself, something excited, like, "Oh, how wonderful!" As soon as this reaction come, the clouds once more covered the Sun. Perhaps others could give Gabriele a better explation. This is from my experience, not from the teaching. Guest guest
Dear Richard, thanks much. This is a good explanation. I enjoy much listening to your experience.
