Guest guest
Dear Joseph , Ramana's way is primarily for the Householder , and is not meant only for Monastics or Asramites. If you read talks he gives advice that the realisation 'I am nothing' is possible for those engaged in life , even when working .He did not encourage devotees to retreat to Ashrams , for the mind goes with one wherever it is until one ceases to identify with it ,Ashrams or City Centres. There have been many recorded cases of Householders who have reached the egoless state [see Power of the Presence vols. I II and III by D.Godman ].I met the late Robert Adams who was a living example .Persistence through Self Surrender and Self Enquiry , with Guru's grace , will lead to the goal .This is my oppinion .Others may wish to comment ,with practical advice .I feel it is largely a matter of non-identification and non-attachment while acting appropriately.Regards , in Him , Alan.
