Guest guest
The insentient body does not say 'I'. The ever-existent consciousness is not born (thus cannot say 'I'). The 'I' of the size of the body springs up between the two: it is known as chit-jada-granthi (the knot which ties together the sentient and insentient), bondage, individuality, ego, subtle body, samsara, mind, etc. Know that this formless ghost (the ego of 'I') springs up in a form (body). Taking a form it lives, feeds and grows. Leaving a form it picks up another, but when it is enquired into, it drops the form and takes to flight. ~~~~~~~~~ S.S. Cohen ~~~~~~~~~ The body is insentient, The Self does not rise, Within the body's limit an 'I' rises, between the body and Self. It is named 'ego', 'knot of matter and spirit', 'bondage', 'subtle body', and 'mind'. Born of forms, rooted in forms Feeding on forms, ever changing its forms Itself formless, this ego-ghost takes to its heels on enquiry. ~~~~~~~~~~~ A.R.
