GRACE

>From a book DIVINE GRACE THROUGH TOTAL

SELF-SURRENDER btyD.C.Desai,Bhagavan read out for our

benefit the following quotations for Paul Brunton :

"DIVINE GRACE IS A MANIFESTATION OF THE COSMIC FREE

WILL IN OPERATION.

IT CAN ALTER THE COURSE OF EVENTS IN A MYSTERIOUS

MANNER THROUGH ITS OWN UNKNOWN LAWS,WHICH ARE

SUPERIOR TO ALL NATURAL LAWS,AND CAN MODIFY THE

LATTER BY INTERACTION.

IT IS THE MOST POWERFUL FORCE IN THE UNIVERSE.

IT DESCENDS AND ACTS ONLY WHEN IT IS INVOKED BY

TOTAL SELF-SURRENDER.IT ACTS FROM WITHIN,BECAUSE

GOD RESIDES IN THE HEART OF ALL BEINGS.ITS WHISPER

CAN BE HEARD ONLY IN A MIND PURIFIED BY SELF-

SURRENDER AND PRAYER.

......IT IS A DESCENT OF GOD INTO THE SOUL' S ZONE OF

AWARENESS .

IT IS A VISITATION OF FORCE UNEXPECTED AND

UNPREDICTABLE

IT IS A VOICE SPOKEN OUT OF COSMIC SILENCE .

IT IS 'COSMIC WILL WHICH CAN PERFORM AUTHENTIC

MIRACLES UNDER ITS OWN LAWS '.

[Gems from Bhagavan by A Devaraja Mudaliar Pages 28 & 29 ].

Forty Verses, V. 29

To enquire, silently and deeply, as to the source

of the mind, the 'I', alone is self-enquiry.

Ideas like 'I am that' or 'I am not this' are but aids.

~~~~~~~~~~~
A.R. Natarajan
~~~~~~~~~~~

Seeking the source of the 'I' with a mind turned

inwards and no uttering of the word 'I' is indeed

the path of knowledge. Meditation on 'I am not

this, I am that' is an aid to the enquiry, but not

the enquiry itself.

Forty Verses, V. 30

When the mind turns inwards

seeking "who am I?"

and merges in the Heart,

then the "I" hangs down his head in shame

and the "ONE I" appears as itself.

though it appears as "I-I",

it is not the ego .

It is Reality,

perfection,

the substance of the Self .

Re: Forty Verses, V. 28

Greetings to all:

I just joined the group.

We live in a hectic world which sucks up our attention. We lose

composure

and abidance in the Self. Moreover, the ego battles and fools us into

diversions.

Has anyone used any kind of personal method to keep oneself on track

while

engaging the world? Any tactics? Any mechanisms? Do you put anything in

place that steers you correctly?

I know that the answer would to ask oneself who is it that undergoes

this

problem and jump back on track into atma vichar. I've done that. I found

myself losing interest in everything to the extent that one cannot

engage

effectively in this world. I found myself avoiding and rejecting things.

Nevertheless, with worldly responsibilities one cannot afford that.

I'm just curious to know how my fellow seekers approach this?

Ram

Alan Jacobs <alanadamsjacobs

acting in the world

Dear Ram , my approach is to follow the path of Karma Yoga and let Alan

act appropriately in each

situation without identifying with his body -mind as much as possible.

If one stays in awareness

and watches the mind- body acting you will find it behaves appropriately

without hindrance from

mental considerations .If one gets lost then just return to the "I

amness' the sensastion of'I am

Being-Here-Now- awareness ', 'I am Consciousness ', 'being here now

-witnessing '.If one

identifies -return again to the Self of Consciousness being awareness

..Each time it will become

easier to watch Consciousness playing at being Ram as an actor on the

stage of life , without

separation , and not being dragged by his thoughts and feelings

..Sometimes identification can be

lessened by keeping your attention on the right side of the chest ,or

some part of the body-this

brings onecloser to the Self.The Enquiry track may become easier as time

goes on .It is not

necessary to lose interest if one remembers you are a Karma Yogi playing

your predestined role as

it was meant to be performed .Practice makes perfect.Anyway others may

have better recipes and I

hope you get plenty of feed back -it will help us all .Welcome to the

Group , In His Grace , Alan
