Guest guest
Dear sri vishNava perunthagaiyeer, In modern management science, the very fundamental approach in any learning process is to go "from known to unknown". We beautifully adopt this approach from the days of childhood easily without really realising such high points. The mother is the first known to the child by its inherent or innate excellence. Then she helps the child to identify the father and the chain goes on - known leading to unknown to make other things also known. Similarly we see the sun daily - the first known 'god' and then proceed to know the antharyaami bhagavaan of the sun - the naaraayaaNa. Yes. I am able to diagnose the murmur raising in the corner of the heart of srivaishNavaas for saying 'hey- sun, is he a god'. I will answer that later. First we will see some traits of sun and then proceed to know more. * The sun is the prima donna or the king of the solar system. * Sun is the basic light provider to this earth. * Also he is the abundant 'non-conventional energy provider' to this world. * As the present day scientists say light energy from sun is un-diminishing one, unlike coal or crude oil, which after eaten by man will get exhausted one day or other. Sri raamaa the son of kausalya is the sun's sun. None other than mother sumithra, raamaa's chiththi, says this. [stepmother?]. See the slOkam sooryasya api bhavEth soorya: hi agnEr agni: prabhO: prabhu: | sriyascha sree: bhavEdhagryaa keerthyaa: kshamaa: kshamaa || srimadh raamaayaNam ayOdhyaa kaaNdam 2 - sargam 44 - slOkam 15 dhaivatham dhaivathaanaam cha bhoothaanaam bhootha saththama: | thasya ke hi aguNaa dhEvi vanE vaa api athavaa purE || srimadh raamaayaNam ayOdhyaa kaaNdam 2 - sargam 44 - slOkam 16 When mother kousalya was weeping not able to control her on the separation of raama, sumithra starts consoling kousalya. There is one full sargam [44th] in srimadh raamaayaNam on this consoling topic. Now word by word meaning for the above two slOkams: dhEvi = Oh, Kausalya! bhavEth = He becomes soorya: = illuminator sooryasya api = of even the sun agni: = fire (revealer) agnE: = of fire prabhu: = the ruler prabhO: = of rulers sree: = the splendour sriyascha = of splendours agryaa = the foremost keerthi: = glory (essence) keerthyaa: = of all glories kshamaa kshamaa = the fore-bearer of forbearance; dhaivatham = the god dhaivathaanaam = of gods bhootha saththama: = the foremost being bhoothaanaam = of beings kE hi= Indeed what aguNaa: = handicaps(for him) vanE vaa api = in the forest athavaa = or purE = in Ayodhya? Meaning: Oh, Kausalya! raamaa is the illuminator of even the sun, the fire of fire, the ruler of rulers, the splendour of splendour, the foremost glory of all glories, the forebear of forbearance, the god of gods and the foremost being of all the beings. Indeed, what handicaps are there for him in the forest or in Ayodhya?" Points: 1. It is usual for any mother to praise her son, as he is the best in the world. 2. For the stepmother it is always jealousy, which comes first than the consideration, he is also my husband's son. 3. But here it is a completely different one than the normal thing. Sumithraa is a realised soul regarding the greatness of raama. 4. So she chose to console kausalya. Another thing is also there- kaikEyi can not console for she is the cause for all the trouble. King is not there to console. 5. May be just to console some high words of praise is usual. Here, about raama, what, even casually said, is also truth and nothing but great truth. For earlier we have seen how father, king dhasaratha, himself started praising his own son, first for himself, then among people gathered including ministers and smaller kings under him [in the 'how could such a raamaa do this' series sargam 1 and 2 of ayOdhyaa kaaNdam]. Why such an exalted position of raamaa - to understand that, we must first see the glories of the 'sun'. In 'amara kosam' [the world's first thesaurus] in samskrith language, 54 names are included as sun's names. They are 1. soora: 2. soorya: 3. yama: 4. aadhithya: 5. dhvaadhasa aathma: 6. dhivaakara: 7. Bhaaskara: 8. aahaskara: 9. bradhna: 10. praBhaakara: 11. viBhaakara: 12.
