Dear srivaishNava perunthagaiyeer,

Continuing the 'sooryasya soorya' topic, 'aadhithyaanaam aham vishNu' says

krishNa in bhagavath geethaa,

meaning- among aadhithyaas I am vishNu.

Who are these other aathidhyaas. That doubt in the minds of our readers can be

there and to answer that,

here is the 12 aadhithyaas list.

[This I already included in my Sree VishNu Sahasra naamam series of posts in the

bhakti-list].

1. aruNa:

2. soorya:

3. Bhaanu:

4. thapana:

5. chandhramas

6. mithra:

7. hiraNya veerya:

8. ravi:

9. aryamaa:

10. gaBhasthi:

11. dhivaakara:

12. vishNu:

When krishNa is one of the aadhithyaas as vishNu, there has to be many naamaas

in the sri vishNu sahasra naamam referring to that aadhithya or ravi - meaning

sun.

here is that list of the 16 naamaas meaning sun.

Such is the glory of the sun. But raamaa, the sooryasya soorya, can not even be

tormented by that sun's rays,

states mother sumithra.

See slokam

vyaktham raamasya vijnaaya soucham maahaathmyam uththamam |

na gaathram amsubhi: soorya: samthaapayithum arhathi ||

srimadh raamaayaNam ayOdhyaa kaaNdam 2 - sargam 44- slokam 8

vijnaaya = having known

soucham = the purity

uththamam = the mighty

maahaathmyam = magnanimity

raamasya = of raamaa

soorya: = the sun

vyaktham = will assuredly

na arhathi = not be able

santhaapayithum = to torment

gaathram = his body

amsubhi: = with his rays.

Meaning: having known the purity and magnanimity of raamaa, the sun assuredly

will not be able to torment raamaa's body with his rays.

Points: 1. Is it a glorious consoling word from the stepmother to the crown

mother about her son, that too in a consoling situation on separation from such

a glorious son.

2. Or is it really reflects the glory of the son, for the nature of sun is

heating - that is why the name thapana: - that nature will change in front of

the sun says mother. Further she says the moon and wind will also serve him.

3. Actually these are the points to be enjoyed in raamaayaNam for most of us

know the story

See further how the nature [wind, moon etc] serves such a raamaa - as foretold

by mother sumithra.

siva: sarvEshu kaalEshu kaananEbhyO vinisrutha: |

raaghavam yuktha seetha ushNa: sEvishyathi sukhO anila: ||

srimadh raamaayaNam ayOdhyaa kaaNdam 2 - sargam 44- slokam 9

siva: = auspicious

sukha: = delightful

anila: = breeze

yuktha seethOshNa: = of moderate heat and cold

vinisrutha: = blowing

kaananEbhya: = from woods

sarvEshu kaalEshu = at all times

sEvishyathi = will render service

raaghavam = to raama

meaning: auspicious and delightful breeze of moderate heat and cold, blowing

from the woods at all times, will render service to raamaa.

sayaanam anagham raathrou pithaa iva aBhiparishvajan |

rasmibhi: samsprusan seethai: chandhramaa hlaadhayishyathi ||

srimadh raamaayaNam ayOdhyaa kaaNdam 2 - sargam 44- slokam 10

samsprusan = gently touching

rasmibhi: = with its rays

seethai:= which are cool

sayaanam = when he is reposing

raathrou = at night

aBhiparishvajan = embracing him

pithaa iva = like his father

chandhramaa = the moon

aahlaadayishyathi = will refresh him

meaning: Gently touching with its cool rays when raamaa is reposing at night and

embracing him like his father, the moon will refresh raamaa.

To continue.
