Sri Pillai Lokacharya's Mumukshuppadi

 

Sutra:

203. parithyajya.

204. thyAgamAvadhu ukthOpAyangaLai anuSanthiththu sukthi-

kaiyilE rajathabuththi paNNUvARaip pOlEyum vibareetha

thisAgamanam paNNuvAraip pOlEyum anupAyangaLilE upAya-

buththi paNNinOmengiRa buththi visEshaththOdE thyajikkai.

The term parityajya is now explained.

 

tyaja is renouncing. Here, it does not mean the simple

act of giving up. The means described above must be

looked at carefully. Then, repenting that we who seek

the right path to the Lord set ourselves in the wrong

paths, similar to those who looked at a silvery shell

and mistook it for silver or those who wished to go one

way but went in the opposite direction, we should give

them up.
