Respected Bhagavathas,

 

I had been to Chennai recently, I come to know about a wonderful

temple from my Well wisher Sriman Krishnan Ayyangar of SPIC. Since

we dont have issues he advised us to visit the Temple immediately and

pray to Lord Venugopalan. He was kind enough to put me on to the

Bhattar of Temple Sri Vardhan. I had a nice darshan. The Temple is

under renovation. Bhattar told if i can circulate the appeal in

e-groups it will help him in pooling the resources. I am sure all

bhagavathas will visit this temple and also send yatha sakthi

Contribution. I am also giving the sthala Puranam as told by Bhattar

Mama.( The same is going to appear in forth coming issue of Tamil

Religious magazine "Gopura Darisanam").

Sri KanakaValli Sametha Vijayaraghava Perumal Temple,

Location: This temple is located In a place called Pudhu Vayal and it

is situated in North of Chennai in Chennai – Calcutta GNT road, It is

exactly 30 Kms from Chennai. It is one hour drive from Chennai and now

it may take 2 hours as the expansion of highway is going on. Pudhu

Vayal is Goomdipundi Taluk in Thiruvallur District. In olden days

this was the route of Kashi – Rameshwaram known as Raj Paptai (Raja

Markham).

 

This Shetram is one among the hundreds of sacred Shetram and this

Shetram is known as Brindaaranya Shetram now it is known as Pudhu

Vayal.

 

Sage Kanva (He is the foster father of Shakunthala of Kalidasa’s great

epic) build an ashram on the Banks of Aranya River and worshipped his

Lord Sriman Narayana, He worshipped the Narayana in the form of Sri

Kamalavalli Sametha Vijayaraghava Perumal. He did the worship

according to Vikanasa Method (Vikanasa consisted of Hitham (Yagnas),

Archana and Dhayana. This Shetram was also known as Bridavanapuram

(As lot of Tulasi plants grew here).

 

Long ago there was a Gandharva named Sumali. He became a Demon due to

curse. In the demon form he was known as Nivdan. He used to create

obstacle in the Yagnas done by sages and he used to trouble the

Sages. The worried sage Kanva did penance and appeased Bramha Deva.

Then Brahma told him that Sage Kashyappa who was the disciple of sage

Vaikanasa was in Naimisaranya, go to him and take his advice and

please Sriman Narayana. Then he Lord Veeraraghavan did the samhara of

Sumali. Due to this Sumali got the Sapa Vimochana and Sage Kanva Got

th Annugraha of Lord. Since Sage Vikanasa helped Sage Kanva in token

of reorganisation He [Vikanasa] is worshipped in the form of Vigraha

Rupam.

 

In this Temple:

Perumal is worshipped as Sri Devi, Bhoo Devi sametha Vijayaraghava

Perumal. He is in sitting in Bhoga asana Posture facing East. He is

having four hands, Hold Shanku and Chakra in two hands. Abhayahastam

and One hand appears as if he is calling us and telling come seek

refuge in me. His Vimana is Vijaya Kodi Vimana.

Then in west side you find Kamala Pushkarani once upon a time the

Pushkarani was full of blooming Lotus. Then once you come out on left

side you will find the Sannadhi of Kamalavalli Thayar. We cannot

describe the beauty of Thayar and her face is ever smiling.

Then once you come out of Thayar Sannidhi a little further on right

side and behind Perumal Sannidhi you will find Sri Rukmini,

Satayabhama sametha Venugopala Swamy with four hands, Shanku and

Chakra in two hand and with other two hands holding his flute. Then

at his feet is a cow is prostrating. It looks as if it is doing

Saranagathi at lord’s feet. Issueless couples come here and pray to

lord Venugopal and give milk as Nivediya and then they partake it and

they are blessed with issues.. Then next Sannidhi is of Godha Devi.

Then bang opposite to Vijayaraghava’s Sannidhi is of Periya

Thiruvadi [Garuda] and Seriya Thiruvadi [Anjaneyar].Here they say any

nivediya done to Garuda is free from Sarpa dosham and any nivediya

given to Anjaneyar is free from Navagruha Dosham.

Then you find Kalyana Mantapa built full of sculptures. The

Unmarried people get married by praying to Kamalavalli Thayar and

also Issueless Couples get issues by praying to Kamalavalli Thayar.

They Say for Dairyam pray to Lord Vijayaraghava, for Wealth

Pray Goddess Kamalavalli Thayar, and for issues pray to Lord

Venugopala.

Sri Vikanasam: There are five stages of Bramha Swarupam,

Param, Vyuham, Vibhavam, Antharyami and Archaswroopam. In this Param

and Vyuham God can be at Vaikuntam and Sheerapthi. Vibhavam we see

God in the form of Manushya for example Lord Rama & Krishna etc.

Antharyami stage God can be seen by Yogis who do penance etc.

Archaswroopam /Archaavathara is a stage where people can see the Deity

in the form of Vigraha and our great Alwars have done MANGALA SHASNAM

to the deity. Sage Kasyapa, Athri, Bruhu got the Upadesha from there

Guru Vikanasa and it the principle is know as Sri Vaikanasa Bhagavat

Sahstra This Sahstra is followed in Puduvayal temple also.
