In this way, seeing azhwar highly immersed in the divine qualities of

the emperuman in the divya deshas perumal wanted to take him to his

divine abode where azhwar will get the ultimate anubhavam for the

deep love and passion he had towards emperuman. But for that

emperuman decided to show the qualities of the samsara to azhwar and

hence showed azhwar the samsAric difficulties. Azhwar was thereby

highly frightened and hence in the ‘mAttramula’ padhigam he expresses

his fear showing a number of examples. Azhwar says that ‘he feels

like an ant which has been caught in-between two burning wood pieces’

and that ‘he feels like the tree at the bank of the river’ and that

‘he feels like staying along with a snake under a single roof’ and

hence

called emperuman for help.

Inspite of azhwar’s rescue call, emperuman refused to come like a

mother who waits for the child to get good hunger before she feeds

the kid. Emperuman wanted to make azhwar’s wish to have the darshan

of emperuman, to be enhanced and full-fledged and hence didn’t show

his face to azhwar. Not being able to withstand his separation from

perumal any more, azhwar tried to sustain himself by talking about

the lord with his mouth, prostrating to the divine feet of emperuman

with his head and engaging his mind in the divine thoughts of

emperuman just like a man who is in great thirst falling into the

river, drinking the water and showing his great happiness by

splashing the water all over the place, in his second prabhandham –

ThirukkurundAndagam.

When a man in great thirst drinks water his thirst is further

aggravated making him to drink more and more water similarly azhwar

who enjoyed the kalyana gunas of emperuman in the second prabhandam

wanted to enjoy more and more of the same anubhavam further and hence

continued to sing the third prabhandam, Thiruvezhukoottritukkai where

azhwar surrenders by saying, “I will fall into your feet oh! Lord,

protect me from all hurdles”.
