Earlier in the rama avathara, chakravarthi thirumagan Sri Rama pirAn surrendered to the samudra raja (king of the oceans) who refused to come in front of rama pirAn. Sri Rama became very angry and hence shouted to lakshmana to bring his bow and arrow so that he can make the water in the ocean to drain out using his arrow. Immediately frightened by Sri rama’s anger, the king of the ocean came and fell to rAmA’s divine feet. Similarly now azhvar starts to threaten perumal. Azhvar sings the two Thirumadals in the wrong way (It is not a practice for ladies to practice this ritual of madal in the southern region) and goes to the extend of even causing a danger to emperuman’s vibhuthis inorder to bring perumal in front of him. In Siriya thirumadal, azhvar first threatens to destroy emperuman’s ishwaryam and the greatness of the avatharas and their divine qualities (avatharangalil vundAna neermai), which is equated to be emperuman himself. “adhukkum mugamkAttittrilan; ‘adhuthAn paradasaiyennum padi neermaikku ellainilamAna koilgaluNdirE’ endrirundhAn endru kondu avanukkum thanakkum vaippAna koyilgalil nindra neermaiyaiyum azhikkirEn endrar – Periya ThirumadalilE. Now emperuman realized that if he stayed without giving darshan to azhvar any further then the world will consider that there was no Ishwaran and hence immediately gave darshan to azhvar as he did in front of prahladan and others and maintained his position and that of azhvar’s in this world. “sukAdhigalum mudhalazhvargalum parathvaththilE oondriyiruppArgal; sanakAdhigalum thirumazhisaipiranum andharAthmadhaiyilE oondriyiruppArgal; vAlmeekiyum, kulasekara perumAlum rAmAvathAraththilE oondriyiruppArgal; parAsarapArAcharyAdhigalum, nammAzhvarum, periyAzhvArum, AndAlum krishnAvathAraththilE oondriyiruppArgal; nAradhAdhigalum, Sri thondaradipodi azhvArum, thiruppAnAzhvarum kOyililE oondriyiruppArgal; Sri sownaka bhagavAnum, evarum archAvathAraththilE oondriyiruppArgal….” Sukar and others along with the mudal Azhvars was deeply involved with the parathvam (para vAsudevan). Sanakar and others along with thirumazhisaipiran were deeply involved with the andharyami. VAlmeeki and kulasekara perumal had their special interest in the rAmAvathAram. Parasarar, pArAcharyar (vyasar), nammAzhvar, periyAzhvar and andal were deeply involved with krishnAvathAram. Naradhar, Sri thondaradipodi Azhvar and thiruppAnAzhvar had their special interests in kOyil (Srirangam). Sri sownaka bhagavan and this azhvar (thirumangai mannan, kaliyan) deeply involved themselves with the archAvatharam.
