Guest guest
Dear Srimathi Yamini Suresh: PurattAsi Saturdays and PurarattAsi SravaNam day ( the avathAra dinam ) of Lord VenkatEsa is very dear to bhakthAs of the Lord of Seven hills. The Maa ViLakku festival at home observed by the ladies of the house is a celebration of the glories of the Lord on this special Month . With Bhakthi and sraddhai , the ladies and the KanyAs of the house prepare the flower , make a little mound in the shape of Venkatam hills , make a space for ghee and light the wick and at the end of the burning of the wick accept that the Lord has reached His aasthaanam from one's home ,where He was invited to accept the worship. This is a prArTanai for fulfilment of wishes by the ladies for SoubhAgyams to the members of the family and for marriage fulfilment for the unmarried young women . The key aspect of this celebration is the special prayerful worship of the Lord of the Universe , who stands on top of the Venkatam hills listening to Govindha nAma sankeerthanam from all corners oft he world. Guest guest
SRI: Srimathe Ramanjuya Namaha. Narayana Narayana Narayana. Dear Bhagavathas, Further to what has been said and what is known to many reg the significance of the Purattasi Sanikkizhamai Maavilakku, I hv the following to say : This is an Age Old Tradition. God of The Seven Hills, Who Stands all the time to Bless His Bhakthas during the Kali Yuga, wants to get as close to them as possible. It is very difficult for all, especially the old, disabled, financially weak, the children etc to visit the GREAT ABODE OF LORD VENKATESWARA. So our elders have found many easy and practical methods of making it possible for ALL to have the Darsan of The Lord Venkateswara. In the Purattasi Satuday Maavilakku function the All Merciful Lord is invited to visit our homes in the JYOTHI SWARUPA and Bless all who are not able to visit the Seven Hills. The Maavilakku is verily the Lord and all of us can have the Divya Darsanam of Sri Ezhumalai Andavan and seek His Blessings for the entire Humanity. This tradition enters the Blood of the Children who follow this path of devotion when they become elders. When the Maavilakku is over we chant "GOVINDA GOVINDA GOVINDA " and do all necessary UPACHAARAMS and The Lord Returns to His Abode very happily for having been able to Bless His Bhaktas. This is a Great Experience to me from my childhood, as it wud be for many others. We Pray The Gracious Govinda to Bless All who seek His Blessings with Good Health & Happiness and the sense to serve all those unfortunate people who need our help. Helping the Needy is indeed Service to The Lord. Adiyen Ramanuja Dasan, Kombur Vankipuram Madhavan. --- Sadagopan <sgopan wrote: > Dear Srimathi Yamini Suresh: > > PurattAsi Saturdays and PurarattAsi SravaNam > day ( the avathAra dinam ) of Lord VenkatEsa is > very dear to bhakthAs of the Lord of Seven hills. > > The Maa ViLakku festival at home observed by > the ladies of the house is a celebration of the glories > of the Lord on this special Month .
