Guest guest
Srimathe ramanujaya namah: Dear Bhakthas I am Vatsala Narayanan. I am happy to be part of this group. my ishta deivam is Oppiliappan. I have a question. my son- who is in his teens wears Thiruman in the morning; does sandhi and wipes off before going to school. He starts doing only recently. I am not able to give saasthra / proof for not doing so, though I know it is not right. He wears beautifully and sincerely does sandhi. My husband says just leave him; he will be alright later. Please advise how to tackle. Sorry for taking my personal problem here Regards Ramanuja dasi
Guest guest
SrI: SrImathE Gopaladesika mahadesikaya namah: Dear Smt Vatsala Narayanan I admire your interest in Sampradayam and your son's keenness in following performance of sandhi... It is godd to see such young ones adhering to anushatanam. Firtly praise him in public and openly that responding to your email, all over the world people wrote to you admiring his adreance to anushtanaams. May Lord Sriya: Pathi Sriman Narayanan bless him as He does always. May Acharyas bless with their vailakshaNya kataaksham! You may ask your boy to read an article written by Sri Sadagopan Iyengar Swamin in this groups "the case of fabulous foot prints"; all his articles are wonderful. This one- mroe relevant to the subject- is a must read for everyone of us. Very good one.. That clarifies all our doubts. It is neccessary to wear Thiruman and do sandhi.. which he does already.. so far so good. when my son Vijai underwent Samasrayanam and BharanyAsam at the lotus feet of His Holiness Srimath PaRavaakkOttai Andavan Sri Gopaladesika Mahadesikan Swamy mentioned to him [i was not there- as I did not go on vacation- work pressure.. mt father took him. Vijai mentioned to me later about the divine event]: One needs to wear ThirumaN srichoorNam while doing sandhi. Do sandhi without fail on all days. Wear ThirumaN in such a way - lightly- so that it automatically wears out by the time you reach your school[ Swamy was so compassionate about out being so conscious of thirumaN being so conspicuous]. BUT never ever wipe off... Because ThirumaN adorning is like building a beautiful temple for housing the Dhivya Dampathi on your forehead declating our eternal sEshathvam [servitude] to Them.. Will some one destroy the building after it is built- that too- to our dearest father.. So, wear it lightly such that it wears out on its own.. Even if it does not, there will be few questions and eye brows on teh first day! After all, you live in India. At least you can explain and they udnerstand. For us in Singapore, it is different. There are of course questions and enquiries as to what is on the forehead. Vijai starts explaining about the lotus feet of the Lord.. etc... I have also asked him to mention about similarity to the way the church priests wear teh cross on the foreheads.. This is to enable them understand better. In Singapore, there are young boys in their early twenties wear "paLich" ThirumaN and manjaL srIchoorNam and go for work... I get inspired by them. uNmai veRum pugazhcchi illai... So, as per asmadhAcharyan's instruction, one should not wipe off. iI do not know if any acharya for that matter allow us to clean before stepping out] Please explain to your boy and he will understand. How about the father:-) Is he following the footsteps of the father as well? In that case explain to both...:-) No jnAnam is complete without anushtAnam and vice versa. sEshathva jnAnam - is complete by wearing insignia on our foreheads. Should we not take pride in showing off being a member of the group that we are really PROUD of? We belong to the Greatest unparalleled One - The eternal Lord Sriman Narayanan.. be proud to show off as well!
