Guest guest
MISSION FAILURE AND SUCCESS There has been a discussion that sri rAmA did not go as messenger but krishNA did. There were also points that hanumAn drew strength from rAmA. This was followed by an argument that Lord krishNA failed in His mission- which is not of-course true. When Lord incarnates into this world what is HIs mission? Though each incarnation had a specific purpose, the larger aim and purpose always for the Lord is to retrieve the souls to His abode. He strives for their salvation. He essays to regain His souls.chEthana lAbham EswaranukkEA. He gives the souls knowledge out His mercy. The knowledge helps them to comprehend good from bad and act accordingly. He, out of His mercy grants them vEdic literature and gives the esence thiurmandhiram."kalaigaLum, vEdhamum, nEdhi nUlgaLUm, kaRpamum, soRpoRul thAnum, maRRai nilaigaLum, vAnavarkum piRarkum, nErmayinal aruL seidhAn" periya thiru mozhi 2-8-5. In spite of these, the souls fail and He again creates the universe, brings the souls from their subtle form and again the whole process takes place. He continues this act without any frustration. "sOmbAdhu ippalluruvai padarvitha vithA" periya thiruvandhAdhi 18 He is like a farmer who tills, cultivates and waits for the yield. The Lord thus does the spadework and waits for the harvest-soul's salvation. "bhatkthi vuzhavan pazham punathu" nAnmugan thiruvandhAdhi-23. It is also observed from thiru-voi-mozhi "onRi onRi vulagam padaithAn" 3-9-10 The LOrd creates the world anew. It is thus seen that the Lord strives again and again ceaselessly by creating the world, bringing forth the souls from subtle state, giving them knowledge and so on. He also incarnates in this world. He demosntraves the way of living -sri rAmA. He helps His devotees by becoming their messenger, by becoming their charioteer and so on and so forth. Desptie all this the souls are not retrived and He continues with His act. Can this not be termed as "mission-failure" ? It is an Herculean task. It is not a joke and retrieving the soul is not an overnight job. There have been several souls which have indeed attained salvation. Hence, the mission cannot be termed as a failure, is an argument which may be put up. Is there any other person who can achive this unenviable mission?, is another argument that may spring up. That is what is the spirit behind the irAmAnusa nURRandhAdhip pAsuram 41 "maN misai yOnigaL dhOrum piRandhu, engaL mAdhavanE kaNNuRa niRkilum kANa gilla, vulagORgaLEllAm, aNNal irAmAnusan vandhu thOndRia appozhudhE nannaru gnAnam thalaik koNdu nAranaRku AyinARE" The Lord desends into this world by various avenues. He comes in person, stands in our front and delievers sermon, helps us, demosntrates us.Alas! people do not look at Him. However, the people of the world on sri rAmAnujA's arrival became knowledged and realised the truth -after getting clarity from sri rAmAnujA's preaches, practices, works and deeds- that sri nArAyaNa is the supreme being and became sri nArAyanA's once and for all. Though the above pAsuram appears to be far fetched, sri rAmAnuja did indeed had a great following and a renaissance took place in his mission during his lifetime. can this not be termed as " MISSION SUCCESS" vanamamalai padmanabhan
